In Lithuania, there are already more than 12,000 EV on the roads – their number has increased by as much as 61% in a year. Despite the rapid growth, electric vehicles still make up only a very small part of the overall national transportation, which currently stands at about 1.7 million vehicles 🚘 One of the main reasons for this is the slow development of charging station infrastructure. While the number of charging stations is growing, their distribution and accessibility across the country, particularly in regions areas, remain insufficient to serve all EV users' needs. Kazys Pupinis, the Head of Eleport Lithuania, shares his expertise on this matter and the broader EV charging landscape in the regions of Lithuania 🇱🇹 Discover the article here:

Good business is GREAT for everyone, and Lithuania’s EV charging station expansion model is proving the point. There are challenges in charging station infrastructure development to be sure. Development, innovation, and regulatory development are critical to the growth of the EV market in the US and abroad. Good on Lithuania for setting a great model for exploration. #transportation #infrastructure #ev

Record Breaking Bridge Near Completion. In April, the Bridge of National Unity will be completed near Sátoraljaújhely (eastern Hungary), connecting Szár and Vár Hills. The cable-stayed bridge is over 700 meters long and will be held up by six cable ropes. Hungary can write itself into the record books, as reported by Magyar Nemzet based on a Világgazdaság report. The Bridge of National Unity, designed to be a tourist attraction, is nearing completion. Utilizing this technology, it is not only the longest bridge of its kind in Hungary, but also in the world. The plan for the Bridge of National Unity was ready years ago, with the aim of setting a world record for the rope bridge in Sátoraljaújhely, which has a population of 14,000. Initially, it seemed like an achievable feat, but then unexpected competition emerged from the Czech Republic. The original plans for the bridge in Dolni Morava were to be longer than its Hungarian counterpart, creating doubts about Hungary’s potential world record. However, it was later revealed that the Czech engineers had included the fixed, double-sided ground walkway of the bridge in the total length. The Bridge of National Unity, featuring large glass panels in the middle, is expected to be completed by April, with visitors able to walk across it by the beginning of summer. In Xiamen, China, the monumental task of relocating the 30,000-ton Houxi Long Distance Bus Station for a high-speed railway project has set a Guinness World Record. This remarkable feat employed 532 hydraulic jacks and rolling tracks, accurately orchestrated by computer systems to minimize any margin for error. Captured in a mesmerizing time-lapse video, the terminal appears to "walk," creating an optical illusion that showcases the intricacy and precision of this groundbreaking endeavor. ⚡ Klaus-Erik Pilar, Country Manager of Sunly Estonia, spoke at the Energy Conference organized by Eesti Päevaleht about gaining local communities' agreement for the development of wind farms. One approach is a windmill fee imposed by law, but Pilar noted that this alone does not solve all issues. Some people are highly motivated by it, while others are not affected at all. The amounts received vary greatly and depend on the number of households covered by the windmill fee. For instance, in some Sunly projects, the fee per household is 300 euros per year, while in others, it amounts to 3,000 euros. Nevertheless, Pilar acknowledges that wind farms have an impact on local residents, even if it's only visual. To learn more about how Sunly engages with local communities and our value proposition, read the article below (in Estonian) 👇

Exciting developments at Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) as we move forward with modernizing our air surveillance systems to enable the construction of higher offshore wind farms in the Gulf of Riga and on Estonian islands. This project is a critical step in supporting Estonia's energy security and advancing green energy production. Historically, air surveillance restrictions have limited wind farm development due to potential interference with radar systems. Now, with new compensatory measures and cutting-edge technology, we're ensuring both the safety of Estonian airspace and the growth of renewable energy, including wind turbines up to 400 meters tall. This dual-use €5.1 million project, fully funded by the EU's NextGenerationEU recovery and resilience fund, involves strategic partnerships with Indra Sistemas, Thales Italia, and local Estonian firms regarding civil works. We are exchanging secondary surveillance radar, expanding and upgrading WAM system, implementing ADS-B and integating air force radar data to ensure heightened situational awareness for air traffic controllers. As the project manager, I’m proud to say that with agreements signed and work already underway, we’re on track for completion by Q1 2026. This initiative not only reinforces our commitment to safe, efficient air traffic control but also contributes to Estonia's green transition. #AirTrafficManagement #GreenEnergy #Sustainability #NextGenerationEU #Innovation #Renewables #Estonia
