LEGISLATION: U.S. Department of Transportation releases deployment plan for #V2X technologies #USDOT has published 'Saving Lives with Connectivity: A Plan to Accelerate V2X Deployment', which outlines its vision and specific milestones for the deployment of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology. The plan, initially released in draft form for public comment last year, is "focused on #roadsafety, #mobility, and efficiency through #technology that enables vehicles and wireless devices to communicate with each other and with roadside infrastructure", USDOT says. “The department has reached a key milestone today [August 16] in laying out a national plan for the #transportation industry that has the power to save lives and transform the way we travel,” said US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. “The department recognizes the potential safety benefits of V2X, and this plan will move us closer to nationwide adoption of this technology.” “Today’s release establishes clear objectives for future public and private investments in V2X in US road transportation networks,” said John Kwant, executive director, Americas, at the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA).
