What can I say, this has always been one of my favourites and dream cars since I was a teenager. Only 272/273 were made of this amazing piece and with one of the finest and cleanest designs ever made. This is what I call a real widow maker of it’s time with a weight of only 1160 kg, and a turbocharged V8 engine that produced 400 hp. The body was made of carbon fibre and aluminium, which made it extremely light. I could go on forever about how much I love ❤️ this car like most of us in this chat. I wish I had one, especially today when all car manufacturers are investing in electric cars.
I still remember being at the Walnut Creek Ferrari dealership in 86' and the manger taking me and my manager of a grey market shop back to a garage where a red Countach, a Tessa Rossa and a GTO were. Everyone stood around the Countach, but I went to the GTO and told everyone "No, this one".

Arnoux and Michele. He owned GTO #56195 which had the rare nomex inserts instead of full leather. Unsure if that is his personal GTO
The 308 GTO powerunit and the Lancia LC2 powerunit are very similar. It’s fair to say that Mr. Materazzi worked on both simultaneously. And of course, the 126C4 engine, the 120 deg bank angle allowed the turbo chargers to be placed btw. them. If I’m not wrong the C4 was the last design with the turbo chargers respectively with the heads “the other way around”, showing the exhaust inwards btw. the bank angle. The 308 GTO engine block was also used in the 328, 348 an F355. “The development of the complete powertrain was carried out by Nicola Materazzi who had extensive experience in turbocharging from the Lancia Stratos GR5, the Ferrari 126C and had been the Chief Engineer for the 288 GTO and GTO Evoluzione (and later the Ferrari F40).”

4moAvevo solo 5 anni quando sfogliando le pagine di un quattroruote vidi per la prima volta le foto di questa auto.. non sapevo nemmeno leggere ma l'emozione fu subito enorme..da quel momento ad ogni edizione della rivista cercai un'auto che mi trasmettesse le stesse senzazioni..ma non l'ho mai trovata.. Ancora oggi a distanza di 40 anni questa auto è in grado di emozionarmi, grazie ferrari GTO
