Moving to S/4HANA…. Are customers fully aware of what moving to S/4HANA means to their existing BAU/Support/Managed services arrangements? Whether they are in-house or outsourced. I don’t think most are. The mix will change…and having to trawl through the million page roles and responsibilities catalogue from SAP can’t be the answer can it?

The most important skills to Work as a SAP Consultant in Germany Specialists in One Module Are More Sought After Than Generalists: In general, companies, especially larger ones, prefer in-depth knowledge of a specific SAP module over a broader range of modules. For example, it's common for a consultant with skills and experience in SD to have knowledge of intersecting modules such as MM. The challenge arises when a candidate claims to have worked in almost all modules. Typically, such candidates are either developers who don't need deep business unit knowledge or they have only scratched the surface of each module. Consider a candidate who claims expertise in FI/CO, SD/MM, BTP, WM, LE, and EWM. This broad range of claimed expertise often suggests limited depth in each area. End-to-End Knowledge Trumps Pure Process or Hands-On Skills: Most SAP consultants specialize in either the process/project side, with skills in project management, analysis, and process design, or the hands-on side, focusing on customizing, support, and day-to-day business operations. In the German market, which has many SMEs, this kind of specialization is often only possible in very large companies. Gaining experience in all parts of the project life cycle will significantly enhance your hireability and salary, allowing you to advance your career effortlessly. German Knowledge Is an Essential Skill: This is the biggest roadblock for many candidates. Most companies in Germany use German as their official language. While some companies use English, this is the exception rather than the rule. Proficiency in German is crucial for most roles. If a candidate does not have this skill, they may find themselves being paid below market value or facing reduced opportunities, as many employers won't consider them even if they possess the necessary skills and experience.
