Beware! There's a ghost haunting LinkedIn 👻 And it is 'Ghost Jobs' or 'Ghost Job Postings' I am seeking to find my next job for three months. Extensively, on a daily basis, there is job research, document and interview preparation, rewriting, getting feedback, personal knowledge development, networking etc. The process makes me feel as I am actually working as a part-time, calculating the time and effort I put in these. Yet, it is saddening to see that some of my effort is and will be in vain, only because some companies want to keep up with the data and gain (or mine) valuable information from job seekers - and they give nothing back! According to a survey, "More than 40% of hiring managers said they list jobs they aren't actively trying to fill to give the impression that the company is growing." While this statistic might not directly reflect the German job market, because I could not find a specific one, it's a global reality. It's a misuse of trust and a waste of time for job seekers everywhere. Reference: https://lnkd.in/g6n7ZAbj

What a sad time we live in and this article is a perfect example of why recruiting is broken. The sheer number of applicants has spiked yet the ratio of hires per posting fell below 0.5 so more than half of the listings did not turn into hires. Why are employers posting these ghost jobs? Some employers say they are 'always open to new people'. Some say it's to give the impression the company is growing. Others say it placates employees who are working long hours that help is on the way. But 1.7 million ghost postings in the US alone is 1.7 million too many. If you are an applicant getting nowhere applying to postings, it's time to take a look at your job search strategy. That is not a strategy that works effectively for many roles in 2024. Applying is too easy. It's time to connect with people, have informational chats, grow your network and find those real jobs. You get out of it what you put into it. https://lnkd.in/gx7a58XZ

In the ever-evolving job market, a new phenomenon is making waves - Ghost Jobs 👻 These are job listings that appear to be open but never get filled. They can be from: > companies that don't exist, > companies that don't intend to hire at all, > > listings that stay posted after someone was already hired for that position. The rise of ghost jobs has been attributed to several factors. 1. The Great Resignation and its economic uncertainty have increased the number of ghost jobs. 2. Companies unsure of the future and hiring new people might have contributed to this rise. 3. Percent Some companies post ghost jobs to give an impression that the company is growing, leave listings open with hopes that the perfect candidate might apply, and pacify their exhausted employees by demonstrating they are trying to hire more help. Ghost jobs create a false sense of hope for job seekers, inflate the true number of jobs in the market, and stretch the job search process. As job seekers, it's important to be aware of this trend and navigate the job market with this understanding. #jobs #jobseekers #company #recruiters #hiring #hr #humanresources #jobmarket

Ghost jobs. If you’ve been looking for a job for… well at least since 2020, but it seems to have really ramped up in the past 18 months, you know what I’m talking about. The same job posted over as “Just posted!” or surfaced new on other sites. You’ve applied, you never heard anything, or maybe got rejected within a space of time no human could have reviewed your resume and… the job is “still open.” It’s not just small companies, it’s big ones. Collecting resumes? Recruiters goosing their applicant numbers? Or even “Oh yeah team don’t worry we’re hiring for that backfill, look, but no qualified applicants!” (I have experienced this one as a hiring manager myself). Could be any reason. It’s wrong. Ghostjobs.io has created a submission and tracker for these shady practices. Use it. #GhostJobs #JobHunting #HiringPractices #Recruiting #JobSearch #Employment #ResumeBlackHole #GhostJobTracking #CareerFrustration #JobSeekers #RecruitingEthics #Hiring

Ghost Jobs offers on LinkedIn In many countries it is becoming difficult to find employment especially after the covid epidemic, in countries like the US where people could choose between many job offers, because there were vacancies that employers could not fill. However, employees have largely lost this facility now, due to layoffs and budget cuts, and vacancies are becoming increasingly rare. Nevertheless, there are places. Or at least they appear to exist. Job information sites such as LinkedIn and Undead have numerous job postings. However, despite highly qualified candidates showing interest for these positions, many ads remain on digital platforms with a generic label that says 'This ad was posted more than 30 days ago.' Although these job advertisements are outdated, job seekers generally believe that companies are hiring for these positions. But the reality is more complicated. Some of these are advertisements for jobs that have already been filled, while others are for jobs that were never intended to be filled. These are 'ghost jobs' and are becoming increasingly common and problematic for job seekers. Talent and exposure: Ghost job offers have long been a part of the labor market. These job ads, for example, are notorious for attracting companies that set up booths to serve only as promotional tools or mass resumes (CVs), although They don't even have any positions for recruitment. The problem has gotten worse in the digital age, even though technology should theoretically improve the job search process for all parties involved. The number of applicants worldwide has increased in recent years as the economy becomes more difficult. Despite the candidates coming in, a surprising number of these job ads don't lead to jobs. According to Value Labs, a US-based job intelligence company, the ratio of jobs per job position fell below 0.5 in 2023, meaning that more than half of the ads are for an employer to hire an applicant. #GhostJobs #LinkedIn #Marketing #Companies #Jobs #Offers #Idea #COVID #leadership #socialmedia #Managers #HR #humanresources
