At FrieslandCampina, the commitment is to empower dairy farmers and building resilient communities worldwide. One example is through Dairy Development. 🌍 Aligned with that, PT Frisian Flag Indonesia, together with our partners, has successfully completed the ten-year ‘Dairy4Development’ project in Pangalengan and Lembang, Indonesia. This project aimed to boost the local production of high-quality milk.   Over 3,500 local dairy farmers participated, marking a significant milestone in fostering economic growth and independence for dairy farmers in Indonesia. The project was supported by a grant of four million euros from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Facility for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Food Security (FDOV) grant programme, which is executed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency: Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO). It's wonderful to see leaders coming together to create impact and make progress. Last week our team in the Philippines hosted food businesses and local cage-free producers in Cebu, a region where cage-free sourcing has been particularly difficult, especially for companies who want to meet their 2025 deadlines. 🇵🇭🐓 The objective of the gathering was to co-create solutions so that food businesses are able to meet their cage-free goals, even in difficult places like Cebu. Indonesia is well-known as one of the world's top #tea producers, but unfortunately, tea production here has been declining over the last two decades. From 162,587 tons of tea in 2000, it dropped to 137,837 tons in 2022. To tackle this issue, #smallfarmers have come together to form #cooperatives to produce and sell tea collectively. However, they face significant challenges as they compete with local and imported products, along with limitations in improving skills, building networks, and securing funding. This is where Paguyuban Tani Lestari comes into play, representing over 40,000 small tea farmers across 14 regions. With support from Business Watch Indonesia (#BWI) and #Solidaridad, they have successfully launched their own brand, Teh nDeso. This infographic is designed to clearly and engagingly show how Indonesian tea farmers are tackling modern challenges with innovation and collaboration. FOOD AND HEALTH DURING RAMADAN Ramadan provides millions of Muslims to pay attention to their physical as well as spiritual wellbeing. Previously, I’ve highlighted how Zakat (charity) is a vital form of spiritual wellbeing. In Indonesia, almost half of consumers intend to buy medicine and vitamins (48%) entirely though offline channels this Ramadan – the category with the largest proportion of exclusively in-person shoppers – ahead of food and drinks (46%). On online channels, they plan buying fashion and apparel (78%), and personal care and cosmetics products (70%), while almost half expect to spend more on food and drinks (48%). The revenue of the culinary industry is expected rise by 35 to 45 percent during this year’s fasting month. Food-related queries increase by 120% in Malaysia and 220% in Indonesia during Ramadan. During Ramadan, bookings and appointments, especially for restaurants and beauty salons, are bound to rise. Chatbot solutions are often used to assist and improve the quality of customer service, especially when it comes to managing bookings and appointments or attending to customer enquiries. Companies like Nestle help consumers work out healthy meal plans: https://lnkd.in/gZMVEQPQ which help them optimize weight control and blood sugar levels. Arla Foods’ Puck takes a different approach. Reports from the MENA region point out that during the month of Ramadan, as much as one-fifth of all food bought (in some countries that percentage goes up to a whopping 50%) finds its way to the garbage bin without being consumed!
