My team is young and dynamic, a blend of experienced sales professionals and fresh graduates entering the workforce. As they grew comfortable with their sales goals, I recognized it was time to focus on their professional development. In one of our initial meetings, I encouraged them, noting that I don't envision anyone staying in the same role for more than two years. Their tasks, while important, can become repetitive. To foster growth and cultivate future leaders—those who might succeed me or advance within our company—we've initiated a professional book club. Our method is interactive and goal-oriented, not just reading in isolation. We set specific objectives, adhere to deadlines, and engage in weekly discussions about key concepts from each chapter. Our inaugural book is Stephen R. Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Observing the team delve into Habits 1 and 2, and beginning to integrate these principles into their daily routines, is fascinating. I'm curious about your approaches to team development. Have you started a book club at your workplace? What other titles would you suggest for our reading list? #americanresidentialservice #salesteams #professionaldevelopment

Global Leadership Development Practitioner | Executive Coach | Psychologist | Training & Workshop Facilitator
As professionals, we all aspire to have that "executive presence." But what does that really mean? For me, executive presence is about making a conscious choice to show up as the best version of yourself. It's about tapping into who you want to be, how you want to be perceived, and what you want to be known for. As a coach and learning & development practitioner, I help executives and professionals explore these questions and develop their own unique version of executive presence. It's about understanding who you are, who your team needs you to be, and who your company needs you to be based on your role and level of contribution. So take some time this week to ask yourself these important questions: "Who are you?" "Who does your team need you to be?" "Who does your company need you to be, based on role and level of contribution?" Developing your executive presence is a journey, but it all starts with making that conscious choice to show up as your best self.

So much of this is true! Being a great leader is more than just your title and experience. Its how you lead by example, show your people that you genuinely care and remember events in their lives that are meaningful, how you champion their successes and work with their weaknesses as well as taking accountability versus finger pointing. Being a good leader is admitting you are human too and letting your people see how you fall and get back up. It is not having a perfect team that make you look good, its about having the perfect symmetry of people / personalities that run the race together.
