In March, job vacancies outnumbered filled positions 25 to 1, despite record unemployment levels. Why is that? There are many reasons, but through the lens of a recruiter, it's clear: many businesses are grappling to find workers with the exact skill sets they need. My recommendations to this problem: 🎯Targeted recruitment efforts on entry-level positions, especially with graduation season approaching. 📈Clearly position candidates for long-term growth within your organization. 🤝Work with a seasoned recruiter, like me, to find quality candidates that have the skills and experience to thrive in the position. #Marchjobsreport #Recruiter #HiringTrends #Insights

IT roles, in particular, have seen a significant drop in hiring activity (-17%), though demand remains high. 📈 Jobseeker Engagement: The good news? Jobseeker engagement is up! IT professionals are more active than ever, with a 48% rise in engagement. Finance and Business roles also saw strong year-on-year growth in engagement. 🔧 Skills Gaps: The skills shortage in Technical/Business Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Medical Technologists continues to challenge recruiters. These gaps are causing project delays and impacting company growth. 💡 What This Means for Recruiters: Despite a tough hiring climate, jobseekers are out there and engaged. Now is the time to refine your recruitment strategies, focus on in-demand skills, and adjust hiring processes to attract top talent. #HiringTrends #RecruitmentInsights #SkillsGap #JobMarket #CareerJunction Jayson Theron Geiroeneesa Bailey-Hoosain Stef Hugo Lexi Reid Braam Rakoma Philip Williams Tarryn Gander Melissa Cameron-Dow Anthea Petersen Colleen Turner Andrew Hochfelden Kgaogelo Mabina Dominique Bennett Alexandra Holmes-Louw Chané Tessner Fikile D. Hello LinkedIn family, Title: The Paradox of Job Vacancies and Experienced Professionals It seems like there's a growing disconnect in the job market. Despite numerous job vacancies being advertised, many experienced professionals are struggling to find suitable roles. This raises the question: What exactly are recruiters doing, and why are these positions not being filled? The challenge could be a mismatch between the skills and experience required by employers and those possessed by job seekers. It might also point to an issue in the recruitment process itself, where either the job descriptions are not aligning with market realities or there’s a gap in effectively matching talent to opportunities. For those navigating this landscape, it might be worth reconsidering strategies and approaches in both job search and recruitment to bridge this gap. Let’s open a dialogue on how we can collectively address these challenges and improve the employment landscape for all. What is your opinion regarding this. #JobMarket #RecruitmentChallenges #CareerAdvice

This job market is different. Most of the time, the issue doesn't lie with you or your experience. The candidate pool is flooded with exceptional talent and hiring managers are being more choosey than ever to find the 'exact person who's done the exact thing on the exact project'. The onus is on Talent Acquisition teams to create job descriptions that succinctly and clearly communicate that 'exact' need. If your job descriptions are fluff, you are making your job that much harder. The onus is also on candidates to avoid mass-applying to roles based on title. During my 6 months of unemployment I made the error of applying to tons of jobs I wasn't qualified for purely out of frustration / desperation. That tactic got me nowhere. Narrowing down your applications to roles that truly speak to what you've done will garner better results. #jobseekers #talentacquisition #jobsearchtips
