Why do we often fall short of our goals, our intentions, our resolutions? When it comes to health and wealth, we have the right desires to create positive outcomes. So what holds us back, what's stopping us? I think a lot of people don't have a true purpose or why behind the changes they're trying to make. Making change is hard, we're pretty comfortable doing what we've always done. Discomfort is... uncomfortable... It's going to be challenging but every good outcome is an overcoming of some challenge we've had in the past. Here's a few approaches to getting closer to those goals: Find ways to get small wins. Positivity begets more positivity. Align your approach to money or health with the person you want to be. Get others on board with where you want to be. And support others with whatever changes they're trying to make. And have that purpose front of mind. What would you add to this list? What's your resolution and why? Happy New Year all! 🤔 Think people would find more success with their new year's resolutions if money wasn't the goal??! 🤷♀️ While we need money to live, it requires context to come to life... 🤑 👇 Here's a reframe but where money is attached to a purpose. 🚲 Exercise more by using money to buy a new bike or gym membership. 🥘 Eat healthier by using money to buy more groceries and cutting down on food delivery by 50%. 🏝 Spend more time with friends and family by using money for vacations, celebrations, and dinner parties. ⚖ Lose weight by using money to subscribe to an app to keep yourself accountable. 📉 Reduce spending on living expenses 🖐 ...wait this one is weird. We need these expenses, especially food and energy, to live...they are precisely "living expenses." Who are the 26% of people who answered this one!? Seriously people.... 🤳 Spend less time on social media by using money to buying a real book - binding and paper and all! 📙 🚨 Reduce stress on the job by using money to hire a career coach or get involved in a local nonprofit. ❓ Would this reframed version of resolutions be more motivating to you than just saying "save more money?" August 1. Let this be the month you focus on what is meaningful and worthwhile right here. Amidst all of the things that you have to do, could do, or feel like you should do, may you know that you are still free to come alive right here, by engaging in this present moment with purpose and intention, however, you can. Just as the sun doesn't rush its ascent but steadily illuminates the path ahead, you are allowed to build momentum over time as you move through each day of the month. Your intentions and efforts matter right now, even if this year hasn't delivered the results or outcomes you were looking for. As the sun continues to rise and your heart continues to beat, the ways you are learning to be present amidst the waiting and amidst all that is unknown matters more than you know. May August be a winding path where you feel free to engage in the present moment however you can. May it be a space where gradual progress is welcome, and you're able to build momentum over time, just as the sun rises in the sky. Amidst the endless cycles of things to do, let what is meaningful and worthwhile be found in the slow and steady wherever you find it. This might feel like such a small thing, but this art of coming alive right here: finding value in gradual progress, recognizing the importance of your efforts even when they're small, and finding meaning in small acts. Let this be the August you welcome focus, engage, and welcome steadiness and meaningfulness right here, where you are. MHN. Thrive 🌱
