Do you give enough attention to your pricing? Pricing says a lot more than you think about your product. It signals what you think it’s worth. And the customer determines whether or not it’s worth it to them. Higher prices can signal higher value. Something that costs more has to be better than something that doesn’t. But higher prices can also signal that you’re out of touch. You just don’t get what they’re looking for. You’re not relevant. You don’t want to be too cheap and signal you’re a bad product. But you also don’t want to be too expensive and signal that you can’t live up to your hype. The trick is figuring out what conveys your value but also meets the demands of the market. You have to figure out your pricing’s sweet spot. On Sundays, I like to highlight an article I found valuable. This week is Alexey Cherkasov's overview of Peter van Westendorp’s Price Sensitivity Meter (PSM). It uses customer interviews to create four price points to find out your pricing’s sweet spot. Check out Cherkasov’s overview in ther article below. 👇 (Note: The PSM is a good starting point for thinking about pricing, but it shouldn’t dictate the final price. It places too much rational value on the decision process.)
