Today, we broke ground on the second Blue Polymers recycling plastics production facility in Buckeye, AZ. Set to open its doors next year, this state-of-the-art facility represents a significant leap forward in our commitment to circular economy solutions. Our growing Polymer Center and Blue Polymers network is enabling true package-to-package circularity. We’re not just recycling; we’re reimagining the lifecycle of plastics and creating a closed-loop system for packaging materials. We're proud of our team and partners who have made this possible. Together, we’re turning sustainability goals into tangible actions, driving innovation and setting new industry standards. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gYaB6Zgx #SustainabilityinAction #Circularity

"Think about the millions of pounds of stretch film that are used to wrap pallets of goods that are being shipped and transported.... from the back from the back of a retail outlet or from distribution center. Most all of that today is going to landfill. And that is incredibly high value product that has the opportunity to be used in very high performance- and high quality-required applications. So that's the big opportunity," said Alan Schrob of NOVA Chemicals this morning at PLASTICS (Plastics Industry Association)'s #FlexForum. Flexible packaging and film circularity (recovery, sortation, recycling, and end markets)--with chemical complementing mechanical methods--is the name of the game here.

Evonik ramps up three major areas, planning to increase revenue by over $10 billion! On September 17, Evonik announced that it will aggressively drive a green and sustainable transition, with plans to drive incremental revenues of EUR 1.5 billion (RMB 11.8 billion) by 2032 compared to 2023 by focusing much of its R&D on three innovative areas: biobased solutions, energy transition and the circular economy. The main objective of this area of the circular economy is to realize closed-loop recycling of materials. For example, through advanced catalyst recycling technologies and solutions to improve the recycling of polyurethane or rubber. During the same period on September 17, Evonik also announced a technological breakthrough in its recycled rubber for tire-related applications. According to Evonik, by adding a special formulation containing vinyl silane, it is possible to break the sulfur bridges in recycled rubber while maintaining as many intact long carbon chains as possible. This process is expected to increase the use of recycled rubber in new tires to nearly 20%, four times the amount used in the past. #Rubber #Evonik

Founder & CEO at Cirplus | Passion for Circular Plastics | Initiator of EN 18065/DIN SPEC 91446 | Ex-BlaBlaCar
As Plastics Recycling Show Europe opens its gates today and tomorrow, the industry gathers at a critical junction in time: the toxic mix of high energy prices, low demand and postponed investments and procurement decisions over the past 24 months is driving even well-established players to the brink of bankruptcy in Europe. It seems paradox, but the business case for #circularity in plastics is under more pressure than ever these days. 🚨 Therefore, yesterday's publication of the draft Circular Economy Strategy (#NKWS) of the German government does not come a day too soon. It highlights - inter alia - the importance of giving preference for plastic recyclates across all industries. And it underscores in a dedicated chapter (4.2.) the key role that #digitization has to play in transforming from linear to circular by laying out priority measures in this field, from introducing #digital product passports (DPP) to strengthening material flow traceability through the use of platforms and interoperable digital system. Having been part of the drafting process as a member of the round table on plastics, I am humbled and delighted to see this progress. 💻 This is no small feat, given that when we started working on Cirplus, digitization was hardly a topic at all within the industry, often overlooked or misunderstood even at the highest echelons of power. Paper after paper failed to even mention the word "digitization". No more. While digitization is not a panacea to solving all issues in plastic circularity, today you cannot have a debate about achieving full circularity without addressing the digital angle. I am highly grateful for the support from industry leaders that join in our push towards more and better implementation of digital #technologies from production, conversion, consumption, disposal and recycling and back again. We have put together an overview how forward-thinking companies implement digital technologies. ♻️ With all the plastic in the world, the whole of the Netherlands could easily be covered in a layer of plastic. Unfortunately, only 2% is properly recycled. Because there are many types of plastic that cannot be mixed. Veridis has developed a technique that can tell exactly what types of plastic there are in waste. This allows recycling companies to better separate the different types, leaving more new usable plastic. With an investment of DOEN Participaties B.V., Veridis will conduct pilot projects with their MADSCAN technology. 👉 Want to know more about the technique of Veridis? This video explains it very clearly: https://veridis.tech/
