**🔒 Research Security: A Priority** On May 14, the Council of the European Union adopted a recommendation on strengthening research security to support the Commission and Member States in managing security risks associated with international research cooperation. [Read the recommendation](https://lnkd.in/ecgAhZwM). **🌍 Identified Risks:** - Unwanted transfer of knowledge. - Foreign interference. - Ethical or integrity violations. I've been thinking a lot about how technology has outpaced our business models, culture, society, laws, and ethics. I suddenly recalled Mary Meeker annual presentations on the web and technology. I was disappointed to see the last version was June 2019 (333 slides!), during the 'before times' of the pre-pandemic. Well worth a LONG read. Edit: It is all interesting, and some of it may be important to you. The #education section starts at slide 233.

I finished reading my most recent book. This one titled Our Biggest Fight focuses once again on the dual paths of innovation – in this case, the Internet. The book draws inspiration from historical calls to action, like Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense.” McCourt argues that just as the American founders fought for a new form of government, we must now fight to create a new digital world based on liberty, humanity, and dignity. #Internet #Digital

Securing quality, timely reviews is a challenges across all peer-reviewed journals, and the American Evaluation Association's American Journal of Evaluation, which I co-edit with Rodney Hopson, is no exception. We have been undertaking varied reviewer education efforts, and the latest relates to co-reviewing, including a junior-senior mentor reviewing model. I found this short course from the Web of Science Academy to be a really helpful introduction to the concept and will be using it to encourage co-reviewing for AJE in the future. https://lnkd.in/e6UfW_Za
