Building the foundation for creativity: MAX FRANK's Pecafil® ensures precision and flexibility for TMA's new art museum The Trout Museum of Art (TMA), a leader in visual arts for 64 years, is embarking on a transformative journey. Partnering with Lawrence University, TMA is constructing a cutting-edge, 100,000 sq. ft. facility that will expand access to art and education in the Fox Cities. The new museum, set to open in Fall 2025, will feature a stunning 30,000 sq. ft. ground floor dedicated to TMA. We're proud that MAX FRANK's Pecafil® stay-in-place formwork is part of this landmark project, supporting the construction of grade beams and pile caps with its versatile design and adaptability.

Construction of the new Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art on campus is beginning to take shape, with a majority of cement having been poured for the project. Exterior and interior walls are beginning to go up, and curbing for the road connecting Smith Drive to the David R. Goode Arts Complex is nearing completion, with asphalt work expected to begin soon. The building is expected to be ready for occupancy by January 2026. Funded by philanthropists Jane Batten, Joan Brock, and Susan and David Goode, this historic partnership between VWU and Virginia MOCA will allow the museum to create a hub for creativity, innovation, and immersive experience for its visitors, and its new central location will allow it to better connect with the region’s 1.6 million people. While Virginia MOCA will remain an independent museum, there will be ample opportunities for VWU students and the Susan S. Goode School of Arts and Humanities to collaborate in a variety of ways. When you think of museums or galleries or auction houses you can’t help but think of buildings. Sometimes old stately stone ones with statues lurking on high. Sometimes modern ones decked out with glass. But what happens when there isn’t a building — when it’s closed for reconstruction, reinvention or rethinking? Without a building what’s an art house to do? From Florida to Oregon, dozens of museums across the country are wrestling with that question. Take the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles, for example, which is awaiting a $75 million wing designed by Frederick Fisher and Partners, a project that includes new programming spaces and will become home to Gnatalie — the 75-foot green sauropod skeleton — when it opens in November. Or the Bronx Museum of the Arts, which is undergoing a $33 million renovation to integrate an existing extension into the building and relocate the entrance. Designed by Marvel, the renovation is expected to last until 2026.

The Met’s Next Masterpiece… The Metropolitan Museum of Art is boldly stepping into a new chapter with the $550 million Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing for Modern and Contemporary Art. First announced a few years ago (video) and designed by the trailblazing architect Frida Escobedo (Taller Frida Escobedo) —the first woman to lead such a commission in The Met’s 150-year history—this project is more than just a new wing; it’s a redefinition of the institution’s ethos. Set to break ground in 2026 and open by 2030, the new wing symbolizes a reimagined relationship between history and modernity. With eco-friendly green roofs and enhanced community collaborations, including partnerships with the Central Park Conservancy, The Met is creating a space that bridges generations while inspiring fresh perspectives on art and culture.
