Gen Z, the most educated generation in U.S. history, has found itself grappling with complex issues and ideologies. The question of how they became sympathetic to Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, is multifaceted. Here are some factors that might shed light on this phenomenon: Educational Attainment: Millennials and Gen Z are on track to become the most educated generations in American history. Their pursuit of higher education has been driven by the demands of a knowledge-based economy. However, education alone does not guarantee alignment with specific political views. Social and Political Climate: The current socio-political climate plays a significant role. Gen Z has grown up in an era of rapid information dissemination, social media, and global connectivity. They are exposed to diverse perspectives, including those related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Media and Information Sources: The availability of information online allows Gen Z to access a wide range of viewpoints. Some media outlets may present narratives that resonate with their sense of justice and empathy. Exposure to different narratives can shape their opinions. Social Justice Movements: Gen Z is passionate about social justice and activism. They have witnessed movements like Black Lives Matter and climate activism. These experiences may influence their views on global issues, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Campus Culture: College campuses often foster discussions on social justice, human rights, and global affairs. Exposure to diverse perspectives and academic discourse can lead to nuanced opinions. Wokery and Ideological Shifts: The rise of “wokery” or extreme political correctness has influenced campus culture. It emphasizes identity politics, intersectionality, and solidarity with marginalized groups. Some argue that this ideological shift has led to sympathy for Hamas as an oppressed group. Critical Thinking and Debate: While education encourages critical thinking, it also exposes students to various ideologies. Some Gen Z individuals may engage in rigorous debates and explore unconventional viewpoints, including those sympathetic to Hamas. In summary, Gen Z’s education, exposure to diverse information, and engagement with social justice issues contribute to their evolving perspectives. The question of sympathy toward Hamas is complex and cannot be attributed to education alone. Olivia Reingold’s exploration in The Free Press may shed further light on this intriguing phenomenon.

A major loss event in schools can have catastrophic effects on a child’s life chances. Time lost from education just can’t be caught up. Therefore it’s the DFA mantra when we are involved in school claims ‘to get bums back on seats!!’. We do everything we can to rapidly establish the cause of the problem, then the extent and severity of the damage caused before instituting a fast track recovery plan. Working with loss adjusters and claims staff we assemble a team of specialist contractors including builders, M&E specialists, temporary access providers etc then agree the action plan and make things happen to get the kids back in classrooms as soon as humanly possible. This is something we are really good at doing as evidenced by the testimonials we get - please have a look at this one.
'Having Davis French [& associates] involved and looking into the problem for us was a huge relief' Working with schools to get them back to pre-incident condition as quickly and effectively as possible, is perhaps the most gratifying part of our job. Ensuring minimal lost school days and allowing school staff to focus on education rather than handling a claim and then hearing feedback like this about Timothy French in particular is an absolute pleasure. https://lnkd.in/eP2ubCMj

Not Just a Pet Theory: In Litigation, Details Matter In this otherwise straightforward case of alleged wrongful termination, the central issue was whether the claimant employee had told her supervisor over a call that she did not intend to return to Singapore for an extended time. If so, that would justify terminating the claimant's employment. Among (many) other things, the supervisor gave evidence that during their call, the claimant had mentioned buying bunnies for her children in Ireland. As far as I can tell, the claimant did not contest or address this seemingly minor and irrelevant detail. Yet, it was a detail that weighed on the judge's mind. He said (at [28]): "One does not buy pet rabbits in Ireland during a temporary stay of less than two months. That is more consistent with the defendant's case that the claimant was intending to remain in Ireland for an extended period." This was not a decisive point, but it certainly did not help the claimant. A good reminder to all dispute resolution specialists that even the tiniest details can cause problems to multiply faster than rabbits. #law #employment #litigation #disputes #pet #rabbits

The Three Streams Model has been long in the making and is starting to make real progress. The Department of Basic Education, provincial education departments and various stakeholders are convened today in Kempton Park to discuss progress. Articulation is a key component of the new model. Here are some ideas that flow from the 2020 Technical Working Group on Articulation. Well done to Moses Simelane and many other colleagues for being willing to engage with difficult issues and diverse views in this journey. https://lnkd.in/dz5TkGMe
