Many times, I hear about sustainability on projects, in the form of LEED, FITWEL, WELL, purchasing new materials made from recycled materials, etc but what is often forgotten and can make a huge difference is our everyday purchasing power. The below post made me think about how much of an impact could we make if we switched some of these everyday decisions to more sustainable ones? Such as ordering from food vendors that supply compostable food containers, utensils, and cups, especially if the office has a compost bin. What impact could we have if we made these small decisions that would align with an organization's overall sustainability goals? To anyone overseeing an office's daily operations or hosting events, past or present, what do you think? Do you have the purchasing power to make these small changes and bring about a large impact? Un Belgium we fixe back empty beer bottles to the store and get a cashback , bottles are sterilized and reused . This process exist already just copy it

There’s rising sentiment around existing efforts not being good enough in sustainability and circularity. It’s said so beautifully here REFUSE -> REDUCE -> REUSE -> RECYCLE We believe in REFUSE -> REDUCE -> REUSE -> UPCYCLE -> RECYCLE The Retourna Group aims to address further up in the fashion supply chain than many re fibre and recycling companies to create new circular fabric supply. We value their place in the circular economy, and often partner with those stakeholders, but we’re also exploring less energy intensive options too. The more we do on creating less waste the better. #circulareconomy #innovation

Am at a loss what to suggest to young people as they order a coke each whenever they’re out. What can I possibly suggest? 🥴 Water comes in plastic here. The cold tea is also in plastic. Agree that we cannot recycle our way out of this. But is REFUSE -> REDUCE -> REUSE -> RECYCLE really the best solution? There more & better solutions ... Plastic bottles are very comfortable as the have little weight, are cheap and functional. So there are plenty of reasons people use it in huge quantities. 525 billion bottles each year are used globally. 99% is made from oil. Only 28% is recycled. How can we solve this issue? Important is that we start to REFUSE -> REDUCE -> REUSE -> RECYCLE. However, REFUSE and REDUCE is difficult for most people as running around with your own bottle all the time is not very convenient and then you need refill stations close by. REUSE and RECYCLE is slightly increasing and there are new innovations but the rate is still moderate and the plastic issue is around since a long time. I suggest we start earlier with REDESIGN. REDESIGN in a way that bottles are bio-based, biodegradable and much easier to recycle. This approach will be more expensive in the beginning and will need subsidies by governments but we get away from fossil sources.
