First week in the new role complete! ⭐ It's been a great initial start at the Futures Group with so much learning, supporting learner enrolment days and getting a proper insight into the range of courses run from our training hub 📚 Starting a new role can be daunting but have felt warmly welcomed by the team. One of my highlights from this first week is on Monday morning I was with some wonderful parents at the Netherfield Children’s Centre who were wrapping up their final session apart of one of Futures’ Multiply Workshops. Being able to immerse myself into one of the workshops was important to me in learning what an individual gains… and let me tell you, its more than your typical math workshop! The session was led by Tim Hargreaves, who did a fantastic job in engaging the learners with math and boosting their understanding in financial literacy, it was a friendly fun environment encouraging individuals in tackling these real world challenges. 📸 Photo of the participants from the session below. The Multiply workshops importantly build confidence addressing the cost-of-living issues and enhancing money management skills. The workshops can help anybody; from employers in the workforce looking to invest in their team’s professional growth or empowering parents in the community to be able to assist their children with homework. This is just one of many ways of how Futures can create, build and tailor a programme to meet the particular need identified in the local community…Including but not limited to: 🎯 Soft Skills Workshops in Confidence Building & Employability. 🎯 Functional Skills courses in Maths, English and Digital Skills from Entry Level 3 up to Level 2. 🎯 Short accredited qualification pathway employment courses in Customer Service, Health & Social Care and Business Admin. Do get in touch if interested in learning more 😊 As in my role I am keen to start relationship building with as many charities and organisations in the Nottingham community to upskill any residents interested with offers of quality skills training and to support employment opportunities. Looking forward to seeing what February brings! 🎊 #Futures #CommunityEducation #CommunityEngagement #Congratulations

Had a brilliant and open chat this week with Peter Blake to discuss the housing sector. 𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 - - Social Housing plays a crucial role in society and requires passionate and caring individuals. - The importance of the right kind of housing regionally and having a plan about brownfield sites. - Further collaboration between councils and housing associations is crucial and needs to be addressed on a regional level. This is fundamental to saving huge amounts of time and money – Development of new homes needs to be the priority. - Apprenticeships can build a foundation of change and bring new individuals and mindsets into the sector. - Putting society’s most vulnerable at the forefront of decision-making. - Incentives, data analysis, and out the box thinking can lead to the start of positive outcomes. PS we are in the process of creating a platform for these chats to be viewed, as well as an official page. PSS I will be speaking with Norma Sherwin next week about the care sector, self-care in pressurised environments, and supporting managers.

📚 By embedding careers into the primary curriculum, you can bring learning to life and help pupils make the connection between what they are learning, and the world of work. 🌎 Primary pupils don't need to know exactly what they want to be when they grow up, but by enriching their learning with real life experiences, you can expose them to the opportunities available to them in the future and keep their minds open to the possibilities. 📝 If you are unsure where to start with career-related learning at primary, take our short quiz to help you reflect on your school’s current strengths and areas for development.
