Blind message to all my collegues flying the Airbus A320/321/319...There is a failure for which there is no clear procedure that many pilots don't know about, as per Fcom "ENG 1/(2) THRUST LEVER FAULT" does not consider the possibility of having a double failure ( as every engine is controlled by the associated Fadec, this can happen). Let's analize a possible scenario on a 3000m Runway, winter time, with braking action Medium /poor...how would you shoot the approach? With which configuration?...Because there is a lot of trouble involved.Thoughts?(90% of pilots have no clue of this and will end into a very unpleasant situation around 1 nm from the Rwy threshold)....and enjoy the performance calculation nightmare, for which there is no specific computation...(remember to have the 3 layers opened as notes are fundamental for the understanding of what happens at which stage).😉Try it in the simulator.

Recent Airbus reports highlight the risks of inappropriate V/S targets during autoflight mode reversion (stored value), causing unintended pitch-down commands after an Interception From Above Procedure followed by a Go-Around. As a reference to the Airbus Golden Rules, the main takeaways for the flight crew include: 1- Understanding Autoflight Behavior: Mode reversion can retain previously selected V/S values, leading to unexpected aircraft behavior. 2- Vigilance with Flight Mode Annunciator (FMA): Always monitor the FMA for mode changes and unexpected guidance. 3- Timely Interventions: Be ready to manually take control if the aircraft behaves unexpectedly. 4- System Enhancements: Airbus is introducing updates to reset V/S or FPA preselected values to prevent such incidents. #AviationSafety #FlightGuidance #Autoflight #Airbus #PilotTraining #Aviation #FlightOperations #SafetyEnhancements #AviationIndustry #AircraftSystems

NAVIGATION DISPLAY In most of modern aircraft, the couple PFD and ND is present. The Navigation display screen displays the lateral navigation status of the aircraft. The latest navigation displays are also able to display the vertical flight profile. NDs are the evolutions of the EHSI (Electronic Horizontal Situation Indicator) and implemented for the first time in the 90's on A320 and B737 aircraft. The main characteristic of the Navigation Display is the colour screen and the ability to display different modes and functions : route flown, VOR, AFD, ILS, Weather Radar, TCAS, etc. Here's the ND (Navigation Display) of an A350 during a visual approach with a 40-knot crosswind in the simulator. We're practicing visual approaches in crosswinds at London Heathrow, landing on runway 27, aligned with 270° magnetic. The crosswind is from 180° at 42 knots, giving us a ground speed of 133 knots and true airspeed of 140 knots. The 40-knot crosswind causes an 18° drift angle between the aircraft's heading and track. Here is a small briefing of the Boeing B777-200LR Cockpit. PFD: This screen contains your attitude indicator, airspeed, altitude, and much more. It also shows whether you are aligned on the glideslope and the localizer for the ILS. ND: This screen shows a map of your flight plan with two different modes and zoom levels. Surrounding live air traffic is also now displayed on this map. EICAS: This screen shows the main engine information such as N1, amount of fuel on board, and much more. There are also alerts that popup to alert the pilots the status of the aircraft. Standby Attitude Indicator: This standby screen acts as a backup that contains the same main data as the Primary Flight Display (PFD) Multifunction Display: Displays example checklists which currently do not operate within Infinite Flight. Flight Management Display Unit: This screen shows data of the aircraft such as ground speed, GPS position, time, and track. Radio Management Panel: Displays the current active ATC frequency you are tuned to. Approach Phase on MCDU Airbus A320-214. I inserted QNH, Wind data, Temperature from EFB and Baro data of from charts. What is Approach Phase on MCDU? The "Approach Phase" on the MCDU (Multifunction Control and Display Unit) of an Airbus aircraft refers to a phase of flight during which the aircraft is preparing for and executing the approach and landing procedures at its destination airport. During the Approach Phase, the MCDU provides pilots with various tools and information necessary for a safe approach and landing. This includes inputs for configuring the aircraft's systems, such as setting the approach speed, configuring the autopilot and autothrust modes, inputting the approach and landing data (such as runway information, weather conditions, and approach procedure), and managing navigation and communication frequencies. The MCDU also assists pilots in following the prescribed approach procedure, which may involve vertical and lateral navigation guidance provided by the aircraft's flight management system (FMS) or autopilot.
