My top takeaways on what brands should do (and how agency leaders should look to guide marketing leaders as brand partners) 1/ ANTICIPATION Learn about your customers evolving & changing needs to 'anticipate' them. Example - Spotify feels less about streaming music and more about KNOWING you as it recommends music you haven't heard yet but will like. 2/ EXISTING BEHAVIOR Avoid the temptation to merely 'disrupt'. Understand what routines your consumers have and create processes/products that work with their existing behavior. Example - Contactless payments have become 50% of all in-person transactions globally because tap-to-pay leverages devices consumers already have in their pockets. i.e. removes friction. 3/ INVISIBILE TRAPS Investigate parts of the brand/business/experiences that aren't supposed to change to see if something new or better is possible. Example - Warby Parker (DTC brand) looked past traditional distribution models which led to subscription box businesses mainstreaming a new way to purchase items. 4/ MIXED REALITY Consider ways to blend physical and digital spaces to bring new dimensions & conversations around your brand. Find ways to utilize tools consumers have adapted into ways you unlock utility & brand value. Example - Consumers are still finding ways to adapt technologies like AR already built into their smartphones 5/ SMART SAFETY Invest in solutions that reduce friction as technology needs to be seamless and nonintimidating. Reconsider how you go to market when it comes to entertainment & travel messaging, knowing the range of those paying & attending may vary. Example - Boomers are often picking up the tab for their millennial children and family. 6/ CUSTOM COMMERCE Find ways to show up unexpectedly. Driving interest toward acquisition needs to be faster & seamless. Retailers must fortify their omnichannel presence by offering customers the flexibility to engage with the brand both physically and digitally. Example - Showcasing AI investments like Chatbots can let your consumers know your brand is modern and future forward, aligning with how they see themselves. Curious to learn your thoughts on this.
