UPDATE ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN DUBLIN🔎
So we are opening a new place in Dublin this weekend.
It's an activity-based space in Smithfield in D7. 📍
Lots of people have reached out to me since the last post with questions, bookings, etc, so I thought I would do an update for anyone who cares.
For me, this is without a doubt the biggest financial risk ever so far in my life. We are way over budget and not even ready, so saying I'm stressed would be an understatement. 😙
WHAT'S HAPPENED SINCE WE GOT IT ☑️
• We got the floor down today, went with a patterned tiled lino across the front space. For the back place, I wasn't happy with the designs, so I put this off for the opening.
• Leveled the floor by sanding it and using filler and cement
• We repainted all the walls with three coats. (ceilings are hard)
• Fixed the sink. (Peadar)
• De-molded the whole basement and applied anti-mold paint.
• Safety-zoned the basement with pipe insulation and tape.
• Made seating plans for the space.
• Ordered all the materials needed.
• Bought the Soundsystem.
• Bought the furniture and assembled most of it (waiting on more)
WHAT I LEARNED
Everything is more expensive than estimates.
Anything that can go wrong will.
Things will take longer than expected.
There's lots of things that will pop-up unexpectedly.
Let me know what you think about the floor and space?
I've been documenting everything on my personal Instagram and the lino floor has been controversial.
