In the US we have strong architectural traditions that have been under attack for the past 50 years, yet those are what give meaning to our cities. Some decisions are almost instantaneous, coming directly from the gut. When I got the call from Queralt Garriga, Francesc Camps Palou, Cris Marcos & Andrea Palomino de la Fuente I didn't give it a second thought. There was no way I was going to miss the opportunity to be part of the curatorial team of the first architecture museum in Spain: La Casa de la Arquitectura. How to connect the three elements: the museum itself, the website and the catalogued architectural works all over Spain, into a coherent narrative? How to engage a non-specialized public with the importance of architecture? How to reach out to young architects who are generally so demoralized and undervalued these days? And lastly, is it possible to build a leading site capable of transmitting the transformative power of architecture?
