When was the first ground-mounted system actually built in Germany? 🤔 In July 1983, history was made on the North Sea island of Pellworm: Germany's first ground-mounted photovoltaic system was commissioned. Back then, the system achieved an output of 300 kWp and was even the largest PV system in Europe at the time with an area of 28,000 m². 💡 By the way, the oldest functioning PV system in Europe is located on the roof of the Lugano University of Applied Sciences in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. 🌊 HelioRec Completes Wave Tank Testing of Floating Solar Model! 🌊 France-based start-up HelioRec, in collaboration with Centrale Nantes, has successfully completed wave tank testing of the W200CM floating solar model. 🌞 Details: Prototype: Created in Bretagne at EMP ROTOMOULAGE and assembled by the HelioRec team with assistance from Bassins d’essais de Centrale Nantes. Testing Conditions: Conducted under various wave conditions, reaching up to 1-meter wave height, with multiple induction angles. Wave Monitoring: Eight wave gauges and four mooring load cells integrated for accurate data. Force Measurement: Six load cells placed at strategic points, and Qualisys motion capture cameras tracked the motions of 16 floaters and four footpaths individually. 🚀 Innovative Features: Machine Learning System: Enhances efficiency in power generation operations and maintenance. Hydro-Lock Feature: Provides additional mass and stability, avoiding extra ballasting costs. HelioRec stated, “This successful testing phase brings us closer to revolutionizing renewable energy solutions and demonstrates the potential of ocean-based energy systems.” 📈 Strategic Partnership: In February, HelioRec partnered with EMP ROTOMOULAGE to advance floating solar systems production in Bretagne.
