Insights from OMTEC 2024 and the Future of AI in Healthcare Last month, our orthopedic and spine teams had the opportunity to exhibit at the OMTEC meeting, where industry leaders, innovators, and professionals gathered to discuss the future of orthopedics. A key highlight was the keynote presentation which shared valuable insights on industry trends and emerging technologies. In this presentation Dr. Kirschenbaum remarked, “It seems archaic to me that surgeons need to bring patients into the clinic six weeks after procedures simply to check on how their recoveries are progressing. That approach feels very outdated. I’ve always believed we could do a much better job of using technology to reduce the post-op management burden for surgeons and their patients.” This perspective aligns with the discussions from our AI and Digitization meeting held on the opening day of OMTEC. Dr. Kirschenbaum’s statement highlights a critical area in healthcare: the modernization of post-operative care. As a contract manufacturer dedicated to advancing medical technologies, we see significant potential for AI and big data to improve patient management. Using advanced digital tools to monitor patient recovery remotely can reduce the need for frequent clinic visits, benefiting both healthcare providers and patients. Our AI and Digitization meeting explored these themes, focusing on how big data and AI could transform our industry in the future as well as how some industry leaders were using AI and digitization today. These discussions were not just theoretical but are guiding practical applications that could soon become standard practice in our industry. As we continue to innovate and collaborate with healthcare providers, we aim to contribute to a more efficient and effective healthcare system. We agree Elizabeth Blake there is a lot to sort out but no doubt about it AI will have a significant part to play in the future. We see some great examples of how it is being implemented today in our side meeting.
