Since we began in 2009, we have championed research and innovation as a driver for change in the humanitarian sector. “The world has never been a more dangerous and frightening place for millions of the most vulnerable people in our communities. Developing research that helps to understand humanitarian challenges better and provide solutions that will enable those most affected by crises to be safe, secure and to uphold their rights, has never been more important. This is an exciting time to join Elrha as we enter our new strategic period (2023-2040). We are looking for a CEO who can bring senior-level global expertise and lead Elrha in achieving our new ambitious vision.” - Dr Jane Cocking, Chair of Elrha’s Board of Trustees. In the Fall of 2011, Locally Led’s founding member moved to Benghazi, during the tail-end of the Libyan revolution. The next four months would completely turn his world upside down, witnessing the incredible power of collective, community-led organizing…in the absence of any form of functional government and despite a completely frozen, disconnected humanitarian response. The communal spirit of collective action, care, and organizing was deeply moving…an aspect of the Libyan revolution that oftentimes is left far from the commentary on Libya both back then…and today. The next 14 years would be deeply influenced by this experience in Libya, cultivating storytelling platforms, advocacy coalitions, and co-founding a now refugee-led non-profit (Sawiyan), that were all built with the purpose of platforming/emboldening community leadership, voice, and lived experience of...and providing spaces for passionate advocates, community leaders, and difference makers from around the SWANA(MENA) region to dream big dreams for each other…and be pushed, encouraged, and ‘beloved on’ as they shoot their shot at those dreams to make community, life, and relationship more whole. Throughout the past year, folks with similar journeys, experience, shared passion for their communities, and a shared frustration about the systems that marginalize and choke out holistic growth have intersected, met, and reflected with Locally Led. Our shared experiences, open conversations on a Zoom, in houses, cafes have been a resounding affirmation on why what we’re striving for at Locally Led is worthy. Why our mission to re-imagine and re-define how we support, accompany, and care for those who serve our communities both *hits* the way it does…why it is critical. Being an advocate for the marginalized, pushing against archaic systems of injustice, pouring your heart and soul into serving your community can have a significant cost. So, how do we effectively care, support, and revitalize those caring and fighting on our behalf in communities around the world? The answer requires us to listen, reflect, feel, wrestle with what we’re feeling, then continue listening. So that’s what we’ve been doing during the inaugural first year of Locally Led. We’re listening. Listening to folks down the street from where we live. Folks in Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Chicago, New York, Amman, Beirut, Cairo, Istanbul, Benghazi, Pretoria, and London. Folks who are pouring into their communities and throwing all they have at some of the heaviest issues and broken systems around the world. We’re not in a rush…but what we’ve learned, heard, and processed has…well, it has us dreaming big dreams again…. Stay tuned. Love, solidarity, and gratitude to all those refusing to accept our world as it currently stands today.

"The HADR Institute proudly stands not only as a Public Benevolent Institute (PBI) but also as a dedicated charity for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights (PHR)." This dual registration empowers us to navigate the intricate landscape of global humanitarian challenges with a unique perspective focused on upholding human dignity. Our foundation is rooted in a steadfast commitment to offer benevolent relief to those affected by humanitarian crises, which often precipitate widespread human rights violations. Access to basic needs such as personal safety, shelter, medical care, and clean water becomes jeopardized, alongside the erosion of civil, political, and socio-economic rights. Guided by the International Human Rights Instruments, including pivotal agreements like the UDHR, ICCPR, and ICESCR, we are committed to ensuring that our work not only addresses immediate needs but also champions the fundamental human rights that underpin global peace and security. This dual mandate is crucial as we tackle complex issues such as the intersection of climate change and modern slavery, where environmental crises heighten vulnerabilities to exploitation. Likewise, in examining the repercussions of armed conflict, we delve into how such strife disrupts communities and infringes upon established human rights norms. By intertwining our PBI and PHR roles, the HADR Institute is uniquely positioned to address both the symptoms and root causes of humanitarian crises. We are not just responding to emergencies; we are actively engaging in the broader dialogue and action required to foster sustainable, rights-based solutions. We are looking for high impact organisations to support, as we leverage our dual expertise to protect and promote human rights, ensuring a dignified response to humanitarian challenges across the globe. Our expertise is to provide credible information and insight to support a positive change and impact. www.hadri.org #relief #humanrights #charity #modernslavery #research

Vanakkam! #NoMatterWhat: Humanitarians Deliver. This powerful theme for World Humanitarian Day emphasizes the unwavering commitment and perseverance of humanitarian workers who provide critical assistance to vulnerable populations regardless of the difficulties they face. It highlights the dedication, courage, and ingenuity of these brave individuals who work tirelessly under challenging and often dangerous circumstances to deliver lifesaving aid and support to those in need. World Humanitarian Day is a crucial opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation for the work of humanitarian workers. Humanitarian crisis cannot be solved by one organization or one country. They require collective action from governments, businesses, and individuals. Take action to support humanitarian efforts, be it through volunteering, donations, or raising awareness #Humanitarian #seniorcare #CovaiCare
