We frequently remind potential site hosts that EV charging brings in new business, but it doesn't hurt to have research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology to back up our point... A new study around the impact of new EV charging stations (EVCS) in California over multiple years identifies uplift in revenue opportunities for individual businesses and communities alike. The findings include: "Newly-opened EVCS [led] to an average yearly total gain of $22,813 in customer spending in 2019. Taking into account all newly-opened EVCS in California, the total gain in customer spending amounted to $6.7M in 2019 and $19.5M between January 2021 and June 2023." Benefits stretch beyond the quantitative for some communities, with exposure to local attractions and word-of-mouth marketing two further advantages that adding EV charging delivers. If you've been thinking about offering EV services at your site - or have recommendations for locations that you'd like to see add charging for your vehicle in future - get in touch with us via ena@elywhere.com. #EVcharging #ConsumerSpending #EVbusiness

I just heard the news that EV Box is shutting down! Is 🔌The EV charging landscape at a crossroads, and is it cause for concern? Would we be better off if more of us worked together? Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much." Right now, Charge Point Operators (CPOs) are playing a risky game that could impact the entire industry—and most importantly, our customers. There's no standard pricing per kilowatt-hour (kW) for AC or DC charging, leaving companies to set their own rates to try and undercut the competition. This lack of consistency is driving some to lock in 15-year contracts just to manage the financial uncertainty. The costs are significant: • EV installation hardware: £XX • New DNO connections: £XXX • Power supply: £X • Bay fees: as high as £6,000/year per bay. To break even, a charge point must service at least ten vehicles daily, each drawing 70 kW—every day of the year. But here’s the real issue: It’s no longer just about delivering excellent service or putting the customer first. It’s become a race to see who has the deepest pockets and can outlast the competition. Sadly, we've already seen several CPOs fold under the pressure. 🔋 If we want to build a sustainable future for EV charging, we must address these challenges head-on. #EVcharging #sustainability #innovation #futureoftransportation #electricvehicles #infrastructure Monta & Blink Charging UK

It's World EV Day and what better time to reflect on whether you should be adding an EV point to your property? As of the end of June 2024, there are more than 1,145,000 fully electric cars on UK roads, according to electric vehicle and charging point platform, Zapmap– and that number continues to rise. Research also suggests that 54% of drivers are considering having a charge-point installed, showing a need to support EV drivers, and the National Association of Property Buyers also notes that adding an EV charging point to your home could boost its value by up to £5,000! ** DID YOU KNOW ** There are currently 2 grants you can get to offer financial support towards installing charge-points for electric vehicles at a property you own. As with many things in life, it’s important to make adjustments when new things come to be. Enter EV’s ad EV charging, although perhaps not considered “new” how we “FILL UP” our car has to be thought of differently until the EV charging infrastructure catches up to today’s technology. Electrify America, one of America’s biggest charging companies, is experimenting with a solution to the problem of charger hogs who can make it slow and unpleasant to travel in an EV. At 10 of the busiest EV fast charging stations in California, Electrify America has enacted a strict limit. #EV #Technology https://lnkd.in/gB8_XU9t

The widely-circulated Bloomberg article (link below) highlighting more than 700 new fast charging stations across the United States in Q2 is good news for EV drivers. Mostly... With strong installation progress on the coasts and near major cities, EV owners will have more choice of where and when they charge. For those in lower adoption areas and more remote parts of the US, however, the map shows a concerning lack of openings in regions where fast charging is already a limited resource, if it exists at all. The Elywhere ES Series is made with those areas in mind. Designed for rapid deployment and well-suited to sites with limited power capacity, our hardware bridges gaps and provides critical infrastructure for EV drivers in overlooked areas. Better yet, the ES Series can be quickly redeployed if you identify a better location or a change in customer demand. If your sites serve customers in underrepresented, disadvantaged, or remote locations, send a DM or contact our team via ena@elywhere.com. The ES Series could be exactly what your business needs to win business from the growing number of EV drivers on US roads. #electricvehicles #EVcharging
