Shifting a building on wheels involves lifting the structure off its foundation and placing it onto a specialized moving platform or trailer. Hydraulic jacks raise the building, allowing steel beams to be inserted underneath for support. Once securely on the beams, the building is transferred onto wheels or a trailer. The entire structure is then carefully transported to the new location using trucks. This method is used for historical preservation, urban planning, or relocating structures from flood-prone areas. In 2019, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced a project to reconstruct and expand both directions of I-94 between TH25 in Monticello and TH24 in Clearwater. The initial project called for expanding the roadway to the inside including a concrete median barrier. A newly proposed layout widened the roadway to the outside, making it closer to Locke Lake where a substantially single-home development exists, ultimately leading to a noise mitigation requirement. The standard mitigation technique requires the construction of expensive noise walls. However, the site geography and the proximity of the lake to the roadway made the construction of noise walls exceedingly difficult. Data showed that using next-generation concrete surface (NGCS) would provide noise reduction meeting the mitigation requirements. The project was completed in 2022 with NGCS installed on the portion of the roadway that was close to the lake, a more economical solution than expensive noise walls. Austin City Council approved a nearly $23 million contract to build a new bridge across Lady Bird Lake near the Longhorn Dam. Here's a handy tip for quick project pricing: Take a look at the site plan. The per unit cost typically covers the dwelling's curtilage, including substructure, superstructure, gardens, and pavement. Where it gets tricky is bringing in services like roads and drainage. These can be costly, around €4,300 per meter for a standard road with footpaths and services Remember, this estimate doesn't include extras like street lighting or EV chargers.
