Now that this has simmered down a little, here's my take, and I'm going to keep it really simple: Our youth are out here winging life with little to no guidance. There needs to be a multitude of career readiness workshops targeting high schoolers and college students. We, the seasoned workers, need to reach back and educate and train our youth on professionalism - in all regards. This is why my focus is on college students. I want to help prepare them for proper workplace culture - something that cannot be found on social media. More to come... And, oh by the way, I really wonder if she was given the opportunity to come back dressed appropriately for the interview. Using my HR expertise, I would say she wasn't afforded this opportunity because if a company is seeking to fulfill a position and they have a pool of qualified applicants to choose from, I cannot see wasting time and energy on an applicant who appeared as she did. If I am wrong, I stand corrected. Oh well, it's time to connect with more colleges and universities so that we can decrease the likelihood of these types of situations in the future. Which institution should I start with?

An excellent reminder of the considerations those of us in the recruiting profession should always keep in front of mind. We all know the extent to which privilege, and similarity of background, can propel an individual into a position of advantage over others. What are we doing, when we can, to stop the hierarchies from reproducing themselves?
I’m Choosing Which Interns Will Get Job Offers. Do I Take Privilege Into Account?

My dear LinkedIn network, My HR team has been doing an astounding job of filling open positions in the last couple of quarters. The team of Esther Ekoh Sneha Saha Rahul Nigam with advice and support from Rashmi Pandey, as well as the time and effort of so many Peepul team members who took the time to conduct interviews and meet candidates helped us hire nearly 85 individuals over the past 6 months. As we have hired and filled critical positions, I'm also so pleased to also share that we've had hardly any attrition during this period. I can count on one hand the number of individuals that have moved on. It feels so good that our team believes in building their long-term careers here. Together with a solid Glassdoor score of 4.1 (which I hear is pretty high :), it makes me believe that we are doing many things right on people management. There is, of course, always so much to do as we continue to grow. We want to build strong performance management and coaching systems, we are building out our Peepul alumni network, we are working with a specialist consultant on developing our L&D calendar and are working with finance to ensure that we can layer on strong benefits to our compensation package. So, need a bit of your help now. We still have many positions open, *especially at the senior levels*. The best candidates have come from internal and trusted references. Can you help us out a bit? Esther Ekoh Sneha Saha and Rahul Nigam will be absolutely ecstatic to get some strong resumes and I can hopefully stop bugging them with requests on pipeline visibility and timeline to candidate closure :) Below is the link to our careers page - do apply. Reach out to me if you have questions or to anyone on the HR team, or to folks you know that work at Peepul. I promise that you will be cared for, that I will try my best to continue this warm, trusting and collaborative work environment with really smart people to inspire you, and that you will work on things that you feel proud of doing and that will make a real difference to children's lives. And, of course, being part of an entrepreneurial journey and building a social impact institution that will pioneer and roll-out quality improvements at-scale in education systems.

“Survey Finds 80% of Employers Believe in Prioritizing Skills Over Degrees, Yet Gen Z Teens and Employers Still Default to College" There is still difficult and important work ahead to ensure that students understand the full breadth of options available to them. Our research with American Student Assistance, Degrees of Risk which consisted of interviews and baseline surveys of 1,500 Gen Z teens and more than 600 employers, found that employers are increasingly looking beyond traditional degrees as a job requirement, but more than one-third of teens believe hiring managers and companies still favor candidates with college educations.
