#ParentingWithSUD 🤱🏽💔💪🏽 As behavioral health professionals, we understand the unique challenges faced by parents struggling with substance use disorder (SUD). The journey is filled with trials and tribulations, often leaving parents feeling overwhelmed and alone. That's why at Avery Lane, we've created an in-depth blog post https://arshare.co/8IY9o that you can utilize as a resource for your clients. This blog post provides insights into the complexities of parenting with SUD, the impact on family dynamics, and the importance of seeking professional help. 🌈🙌🏽💙 Our blog highlights the significance of self-care and the need for parents to put on their own "oxygen masks" before they can effectively care for their children. It also underscores the role of harm reduction strategies and various treatment programs in managing SUD while maintaining parental responsibilities. Remember, it's okay for your clients to seek help and encourage them to do so. We must foster a culture of empathy and understanding, promoting self-care, and breaking the stigma around SUD. If your clients need additional support, they can reach out to us at (800) 270-2406. We're here to help. 🤗💚🕊️ #averylane #SUD #mentalhealthprofessionals

Community organizations stand in solidarity with local, statewide, and county behavioral health leaders as they urge delayed implementation of SB 43 (Eggman). "We applaud the introduction of a resolution in Los Angeles County to delay the implementation of SB 43 (Eggman), an action many counties are taking due to the unnecessary drastic impacts it would have on their residents. Behavioral health is a personal experience and any decision to seek care should be rooted in personal choice and not be forced." - Carolina Valle, Senior Policy Director at CPEHN SB 43 makes it easier to conserve people with mental health and substance use disorders. Forced care was a traumatic experience that disproportionately harmed generations of Black, Indigenous, Communities of Color living in this state. Advocates decry forced treatment, but our concerns go beyond even that core value because the fact is, counties are not equipped to move forward with SB 43. Reframing Our Language: Why "Nightmare" Has No Place in Juvenile Justice Work When working with our youth in the juvenile justice system, the words we choose matter immensely. Describing the experience of working with justice-involved youth as a "nightmare" is not only insensitive but also fundamentally misaligned with the purpose and mission of juvenile justice reform. We know that many of these young people have endured significant trauma and are grappling with both diagnosed and undiagnosed mental health challenges. Those who choose to work in this field are called to be more than just employees—they are called to be mentors, guides, and steadfast supporters. This is not an environment for those seeking a "job"; it's for those seeking a purpose. To label this work as a "nightmare" reveals a lack of empathy and compassion. It dismisses the profound needs and experiences of our youth, who are often struggling to find their way in a system that, if not carefully guided and reformed, can lead directly to a pipeline to prison. We must recognize the immense responsibility we hold and commit ourselves to positive change. We are looking for a few good men and women who see the potential in every young person and are dedicated to the meaningful work of nurturing, supporting, and transforming lives. This work is not about seeking attention or recognition; it's about standing in the gap for youth who need champions—those who genuinely care and are ready to make a difference. If you're ready to be that person, to step up and stand by our youth, then join us. But remember, there's no room for dismissiveness here. There’s only room for those who see the promise and potential in every young person, no matter their circumstances. #JuvenileJustice #YouthEmpowerment #TraumaInformedCare #MentorshipMatters #SupportOurYouth #PositiveChange #EmpathyInAction #BreakTheCycle #JusticeReform #YouthAtPromise #CompassionateLeadership #DoTheWork #PipelineToPromise #ChangeTheNarrative
