Did you know that only certain outpatient therapy settings are allowed to submit daily claims to their Medicare Administrative Contractor, while others aren't? The same goes for submitting claims to commercial and other insurance carriers. Additionally, only specific outpatient therapy clinics are permitted to submit claims on a monthly basis. Nothing will change if healthcare consumers are not taking the time to shop around, especially if they have insurance. It's always worth asking what a practice's cash rate is for a procedure. It can be less than applying claims toward your deductible or out-of-pocket. The type of facility you choose can make a significant difference in what you pay. For example, treatment/services in a hospital will be exorbitantly more expensive than if you choose outpatient service. We cannot stress this enough, especially when shopping where/who to see for physical therapy.

It seems simple, yet sound, to me that with any reputable discipline of healthcare, a skilled clinician should be able to identify those whom he can help and those he can't. And yet, a number of studies looking at predictors of physical therapy utilization find that the number of visits is more related to how much PT or other care was used before, the number of visits covered by their insurance, out of pocket expense, etc. Many patients (perhaps those with persisting and unchanging pain) have experienced seeing a clinician for 12 or 18 visits only to discover that they're not much better than when they began. We should identify in an efficient way, those who we can help and discharge those we can't... #changemymind #mcareforum #jasonwardpt #physicaltherapy #mckenziemdt

Seeking care for mental health can be a daunting experience. Between the long wait times and the struggle to find providers that take insurance, the U.S. behavioral healthcare system does not make it easy for patients to receive the care they need. In the latest episode of ‘The Modern Patient Experience,’ clinical psychiatrist Dr. Joshua Israel outlines three ways to fix this ineffective system. 1️⃣ Higher reimbursement rates 2️⃣ Expansion of the training pipeline for behavioral physicians 3️⃣ Streamlined integration into primary care offices Listen to the episode: https://lnkd.in/e_zGnXJE #patientexperience #mentalhealth #healthcare #patientfinancing

Aryan, a 5-year-old, broke his arm falling down the stairs. His dad rushed him to the hospital, where he got treated for 7,000 rupees. But when they contacted the insurer, they got a big shock—no coverage! 😱 Why? Because their policy didn’t cover these expenses unless specific conditions were met- 💊Like a minimum 24-hour hospitalization, 💊Medically necessary treatment, AND 💊Reasonable costs. 🏥💡 Don't get caught off guard—always read your policy’s fine print! 📄✨ Want to know more about inpatient care?
