Excited to share the successful removal of a pedestrian bridge spanning Flats, marking a significant milestone in the area's major regeneration works. 🏗️🌆 Extensive design and planning alongside the Local Authority ensured smooth logistics every step of the way. Here's a glimpse into our efficient process: 📅 Day 1: Prepared equipment, Sealed off pedestrian access to bridge using in-house fabricated steel, took delivery of plant and set up welfare facilities to ensure a seamless operation the following day. 📅 Day 2: With precision timing, we closed the road at 7 am, installed the road surface protection, swiftly maneuvered the crane into position, and carefully cut and lifted the central bridge section. The bridge was swiftly transported and processed off-site for recycling. Following this the edge sections were lifted down and transported off site for processing. Site clearance completed. 📅 Day 3: An early start ensured the final cleanup, including plywood removal and barrier dismantling. Remarkably, we reopened the road promptly at 7 am, staying within our 24-hour limit and ensuring minimal disruption to the community. Intrigued watching the demolition works progressing on the new Hunter Street station. Very tidy site and a good operation. The only question I have is the noise generated by the concrete breaking. Appreciate that noise is unavoidable, but it got me thinking, do contractors prepare a noise abatement plan to mimimise the extent of noise generated? They break up larger chunks of concrete into smaller chunks and then transport them off site, but could not those larger chunks be taken offsite and then broken up, thus mimimising the amount of noise made on site in the city centre. #enviroment #noise #construction #sustainability
