#rme_audio Room EQ, Crossfeed, Triple SPDIF - UFX+, UFX II, UFX III, UCX II A firmware update provides these RME interfaces with an optimized handling of the existing 3-band PEQ in TotalMix FX. Under the hood a 9-band PEQ is built from three 3-band PEQs, usable on any output channel. Obviously DSP power is limited, so any activated Room EQ reduces the available total number of 3-band PEQs by that amount. A common solution for orchestral monitoring on Broadway. 96K Hi-Res monitoring at a surprisingly affordable price.
I quite often get asked how we do the orchestra monitoring on our shows. Nine out of ten times we give each musician an Allen & Heath ME1 personal mixer coupled to their choice of headphones (usually Sennheiser HD25s). These ME1s are driven from an A&H DM64 monitor desk DSP (sometimes with the 32-ch expansion rack) split from the main console using a simple passive patch bay. During production period we have an A&H C1500 control surface that we can move around from the front of the auditorium to under the stage or wherever it is most useful. Then, post opening night we send the control surface back and any changes are then made using the remote control software. Allen & Heath, Audiotonix, DiGiCo, Avid Live Sound, Fourier Audio.
