Empowering women is not just about equality, it’s a strategic imperative for effective climate action.  Women’s involvement in environmental decision-making leads to more effective and equitable climate solutions. Initiatives like Climate2Equal (C2E), led by the IFC - International Finance Corporation (IFC), are driving this change by encouraging companies and corporates to address gender disparities within their climate strategies.   CID is proud to be part of this pledge and remains committed to championing women in climate initiatives such as DORNA, which is an environmentally and socially responsible reverse credit system designed and implemented by CID. Other than meeting its objective of boosting the recovery and recycling rates of post-consumer plastic packaging, DORNA also focused on promoting gender equality by ensuring that more women are incorporated into the value chain and are compensated for their work. Women hold crucial positions across the recycling sector, ranging from informal waste collectors sorting materials in local communities to top-level executives spearheading worldwide initiatives. However, they are underrepresented in leadership and technical positions, leading to a largely missed opportunity to tap into a valuable pool of talent. In King Size Recycling, we believe that everyone’s voice should be heard, everyone’s efforts should be recognised, and everyone’s unique perspective should be valued, regardless of their gender and background.
