Why even bother celebrating rare disease days? Does it make a difference? Well, in my opinion, it does. International disease days highlight conditions that often receive little attention. They help normalise uncommon diseases and reduce stigma. They help shine a light on supportive communities where people can connect. They help raise awareness among healthcare professionals and policymakers, ultimately leading to better support for the people affected. Global media tell lots of stories about politics, economy and climate, and that's crucial. But we need to talk about rare diseases, too. This is why celebrating these days is essential, and we insist on participating actively. #RareDiseases #DiseaseDays
