The #suicide rates across the county are startlingly high, especially among minority groups. And they're growing. #September is #SuicideAwarenessMonth. This startling picture is a wake up call that we are losing too many people to suicide. We need to do more to reduce suicide rates: more prevention, more intervention and more connecting ethnic and racial groups with the help that they need. #DBT for adolescents is considered the only well-established treatment for reducing suicidal behavior among youth. DBT strategically blends behavior therapy (change orientation) with validation (acceptance orientation). This treatment approach teaches all of us that we are doing the best we can AND at the same time we need to learn alternative ways to manage our problems more effectively.
