This is a profound post and message. Personally, I grew up Catholic, and my belief system was shaped by several factors: being adopted, exposure to bullying, and being taught to repress emotions like anger. This environment fostered a shame-based orientation, where the religious system I grew up in felt rule-based and focused on the law of Moses and works-based salvation (Matthew 5:17). As a result, I drifted away from the church and into the wilderness, living a life of confirmation bias—validating my shame-based beliefs rather than challenging them with God’s word. Everything changed when I found my way into a church whose sole purpose was to make the story of Jesus make sense. I heard the numerous stories of David, Moses, Paul, the Prodigal Son, Abraham, and others who, through faith and not works, became renowned in the Bible for surrendering their wills to God’s unrelenting pursuit of their hearts and their obedience (Hebrews 11). It was a revelation to realize that I didn’t truly understand the story of Jesus and that He came after people like me, just as He pursued the woman at the well (John 4:1-42) and defended the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11). Jesus came to seek the lost (Luke 19:10), protect the widows and the orphans (James 1:27), and make a home for the sinners, not just the saints (Mark 2:17). This understanding shifted my entire perspective. I finally realized that Jesus was calling me home, offering grace and redemption instead of judgment. It was through this lens that I found healing and transformation, understanding that the church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. We are taking patients… “Y’all are hypocrites” - we could take one more! We strive every day to be more like Him. Better level of care...

On 21 May 2024, three NGOs, BLOOM (France), Santé Planétaire (France), and Nuestro Futuro (Mexico) and eight climate change victims or survivors filed a criminal case in Paris against TotalEnergies’ board of directors and main shareholders for their contributions to climate change and its fatal impact on human and non-human lives. In the context of intensifying climate disasters and just three days before TotalEnergies’ Annual General Meeting, this legal action could set a precedent in the history of climate litigation as it opens the way to holding fossil fuel producers and shareholders responsible before criminal courts for the chaos caused by climate change. TotalEnergies, the world’s 6th biggest carbon major, its board of directors and its main shareholders are targeted by a criminal complaint for endangering the lives of others, involuntary manslaughter, neglecting to address a disaster, and damaging biodiversity. They could be condemned for past decisions, which they took despite knowing they would trigger tremendous casualties and environmental damage. Each offence is punishable by at least one year of imprisonment and a fine. The prosecutor will have the discretion to open a judicial inves.ga.on and to determine the roster of individuals facing prosecution. Nonetheless, the complaint filed today targets: • The board of directors of TotalEnergies, which determines the Group's strategic direction. • TotalEnergies’ CEO Mr. Patrick Pouyanné • TotalEnergies’ main shareholders voted in favour of climate strategies incompatible with limiting global warming to 2°C and against resolutions aiming at aligning the Group's climate strategy with the Paris Agreement. These include Total’s largest shareholder BlackRock and the 6th largest shareholder Norges Bank (Norway’s Central Bank).
