A few ways that you can share your breast cancer patient journey (Part 4): Publish an online blog 📝 A blog is like an online diary. Many free websites, like Wix, WordPress and CaringBridge, make it easy to post blog updates throughout your journey. You can adjust your privacy settings to make it public or not, depending on how comfortable you feel. You can also use a blog to keep your family and friends updated on your journey without having to repeat yourself continuously. Does a lumpectomy really have a better survival than a a mastectomy for #breastcancer? https://lnkd.in/erFxYHTC An article today said that a lumpectomy gives women a better survival, but is it true? We’re talking about women with small cancers who are eligible for a lumpectomy but choose to have a mastectomy. Some do this because they think it will stop their breast cancer coming back, but this isn’t true. If you have a big cancer you need a mastectomy. You have no choice. The answer is probably not. This good paper has been badly reported in the press. It reviewed 35 studies and said that 34/35 had a lot of bias. Although the overall finding was that there is a slight survival advantage following a lumpectomy instead of a mastectomy, the strength of the evidence was LOW and any results should be interpreted with caution. I’ve got a longer video coming tomorrow to go into it in more detail. In the meantime check out @breasttexas video on this topic Was this helpful?

Detecting melanoma early is crucial; early detection can vastly increase your chances for a cure. Keep an eye out for anything new, changing, or unusual on both sun-exposed and sun-protected areas of the body. Melanomas commonly appear on the legs of women and the trunk of men. Remember, melanomas can arise anywhere on the skin, even in areas where the sun doesn't shine. Most moles, brown spots, and growths on the skin are harmless, but not always. Learn about the ABCDEs to help you detect melanoma. 💜 (Cancer Awareness, Cancer Hope, Cancer Resilience, Cancer Strength, PurpleRibbon, Skin Cancer Awareness, Melanoma) #PurpleRibbon #CancerAwareness #CancerSupport #CancerCommunity #CancerHope #Melanoma #SkincancerAwarnessMonth

Breast Cancer Patient Journey: Sharing your journey can be therapeutic for you. Deciding to share your breast cancer journey is deeply personal. It can be painful for some, but incredibly therapeutic for others. Sharing lets you release emotions, fears, and negativity. It's a way to heal from the emotional trauma of diagnosis and acknowledge your journey. It can also give you a new sense of purpose. Sharing your struggles and how you overcome them encourages others to stay strong. Sometimes, knowing that sharing your journey might help just one person get through a bad day is enough to help you get through your own bad days. Today, we are proud to support awareness efforts by speaking up about the dangers of skin cancer by sharing #riskfactors and information about #prevention. When patients with any form of cancer share their experiences, they’re affecting themselves, as well as other patients, their family and friends, and everyone who comes across their stories. Sharing isn't just for yourself; it touches others - patients, families, friends, and anyone who reads your experiences. It also promotes connection with others who have breast cancer, creating a sense of belonging and camaraderie. Together, we find the strength and hope to push through the toughest challenges. 💪💕 Let's keep sharing and supporting one another on this journey!
