Emil Anderson Group’s Post

The new Middlesboro Bridge in the City of Merritt is officially open, and we couldn't be more excited! Thank you to Elder Cathy Jameson from Coldwater, Paul Joe from Shackan, Charlene Joe from Lower Nicola, and the Indigenous Engagement Manager for your heartfelt prayers, songs, and words of wisdom. 🙌 We also appreciate Mayor Goetz and the Merritt City Council for their warm remarks and for empowering local youth to cut the ribbon. A wonderful way to honor the next generation! 🌟 Emil Anderson Construction

The City of Merritt recently celebrated a major milestone with the reopening of the Middlesboro Bridge, which had been washed out during the atmospheric river event of November 2021. The bridge was the last visible reminder of the catastrophic flooding that prompted a city-wide evacuation. Emil Anderson Construction collaborated with our client, the City of Merritt and Colliers Project Leaders and our Design Team consisting of BASIS Engineering, Urban Systems, Matrix Solutions and Primary Engineering in order to design and deliver the new bridge in just one year. The new bridge is bigger, wider, and higher than the former providing a more robust and resilient bridge built to withstand a one-in-200-year flood event and future significant environmental events. The project included demolition of the existing structure, new piled foundations, new rip rap revetments, abutments and a steel girder bridge with concrete deck, approach embankments and asphalt paving. Around 150 people attended the grand re-opening ceremony, which featured speeches, a procession of emergency vehicles, a ribbon cutting, and traditional songs and words shared by Elders and the City of Merritt's Indigenous Engagement Manager. We’re proud to have contributed to such an impactful project for the Merritt community. #EmilAndsersonConstruction #Merritt #MiddlesboroBridge
