I was fortunate to spend a few days last week in an excellent course at the Harvard Business School – Making Corporate Boards More Effective. I will admit I had mixed feelings at the onset, wondering if I really had time for multiple days in an academic setting at this point in my career. I am happy to say I found it absolutely rejuvenating. Thank you to the very talented group of fellow board members for sharing your perspectives, and to the HBS faculty (Suraj Srinivasan, Krishna G. Palepu and Lynn Paine) for the intellectual rigor. Special thanks go to David Fubini, whom I had not seen since McKinsey Boston Office days. After years of nearly constant multi-tasking, it was truly refreshing to find myself completely absorbed in reading and discussion for days in a row, listening in person to a professor and fellow students, completed by the sound (and smell) of chalk on chalkboard. I enjoyed every minute of it and am grateful for the experience. For all of you remarkable people who participated, I hope we will stay in touch!
