Electrolyzed water disinfection technology depends to a certain extent on the selection of electrode materials. The hydroxyl radical is a very active substance and exists for a short time. Therefore, an electrode material that can produce this substance in large quantities should be selected. When electrolyzing water, the electrode reaction formula is as follows: In acidic solution: Cathode reaction: 4H++4e=2H2∏=0V Anode reaction: 2H2O =4H++O2+4e ∏=1.23V In alkaline solution: Cathodic reaction: 4H2O +4e=2H2+4OH ∏=-0.828V Anode reaction: 4OH-=2H2O+O2+4e ∏=0.401V It can be seen from the above formula that the overall reaction of water electrolysis is as follows, no matter in acidic or alkaline solution. The pH of the water coming out from the anion exchange resin in this setup would be approximately 7.0, representing a neutral pH. The process of passing water through a strong acid cation exchange resin followed by a strong base anion exchange resin is known as the "demineralization" or "deionization" or "lon Exchange" process. This technique is commonly used to produce highly purified water. In the first step, the strong acid cation resin removes the positively charged cations (such as sodium, calcium, and magnesium) from the water by exchanging them with hydrogen ions (H+). This results in the formation of various acids, lowering the pH of the water. Water then passes through the strong base anion exchange resin, the negatively charged anions (such as chloride, sulfate, and nitrate) are removed by exchanging them with hydroxide ions (OH-). The hydroxide ions neutralize the acids formed in the previous step, resulting in the production of water (H2O) through the reaction: H+ + OH- H2O This neutralization process brings the pH of the water back to a neutral value of approximately 7.0, as the excess hydrogen and hydroxide ions are consumed in the reaction, leaving behind a pure, neutral water sample.

Subject 313 - Amine Unit Rich Solvent Filter In Amine Unit everybody is aware about classical filtration system made by Pre-Filter, Carbon Filter and Post-Filter placed on lean solvent, but You know when is necessary to specify also a Filter on Rich Solvent? If a system is containing CO2 per H2S higher than 1 (one) then shall be specified because iron sulfide is present in rich solvent and NOT present in lean solvent. Why is not present in lean solvent? As a fact, in lean solvent the iron is reacting with remaining CO2 to form soluble iron carbonate and for this the classical filtration system is enough. Also if the rich solvent is coming from Coker Unit due to presence of particulates the rich solvent filter becomes mandatory to avoid contamination of amine system. https://lnkd.in/dxnYNV2i Enjoy!
