Let’s talk “predictive maintenance”on motors, drives and pumps. What kind of programs do you run in your plants? FLIR, ultrasonic, vibrational analyses… what do you use? What intervals for your measurements? Have you found these methods to be effective at catching issues before they run to failure?

As transmissions have grown more advanced, some can now generate over 300 fault code variations, said Gary Pfister, Eaton’s N.A. technical services manager. While some of these issues are more difficult to find than others, Pfister said that the number-one transmission issue is electrical: “It can be a number of things—anything from OEM chassis wiring, to a bad component, to routing of wires, things of that nature.” For more tips on diagnosing today's advanced transmissions, see our Equipment story from our latest issue below. #truckingindustry #equipment #troubleshooting #diagnostics

Integrating motor controllers is not always a case of finding the smallest possible footprint in order to fit the controller into a motor casing. It can often involve working with customers to understand the complete product and how it needs to work. Integrated motor controllers can save space within a product but they can also reduce assembly time considerably by integrating a range of other key connections and even providing mounting points for other key components. Did You Know: Most inverter rated motors don't automatically come with shaft voltage protection. If you’re tired of replacing your damaged motor bearings, this video is for you. Variable Frequency Drives have been known to cause bearing pitting and fluting – leading to excess vibration and eventual total failure. In this tutorial, we’ll cover one proactive way to prevent bearing damage caused by VFDs. https://hubs.la/Q02l-QgN0

A follow up of the previous post... When you turn on your ignition, an electrical circuit is completed and a pinion gear on the starter motor, that meshes with the flywheel is powered. It's rotation causes the rotation of the flywheel and in turn the crankshaft. The engine is then powered. The initial power of the engine, therefore comes from the battery. The four stroke cycle then begins. Intake stroke, compression stroke, power/combustion stroke and lastly, the exhaust stroke.
