Shaping Character Through Tradition On the first day of the Lunar New Year, JaySon, kneeled down for the first time to wish us well. A simple act that carries deep meaning. This is about more than tradition. It is about building his character and instilling values like respect, gratitude, and humility from a young age. In a fast-changing world, how do we ensure our children grow up with strong values? By teaching them early. By leading through example. By reinforcing that small actions shape who they become. Whether in family or business, the same principles apply: ✅ Respect, appreciating those who guide and support us ✅ Gratitude, recognizing and valuing the people around us ✅ Humility, understanding that no success is achieved alone The values we nurture today shape the person he will become tomorrow. Gong xi fa cai and Kung hei fat choi

According to one legend, there is a reason for the order of the animals in the cycle. A race was held to cross a great river, and the order of the animals in the cycle was based upon their order in finishing the race. In this story, the snake compensated for not being the best swimmer by hitching a hidden ride on the Horse's hoof. When the horse was about to cross the finish line, the snake jumped out, scaring the horse, and thus edging it out for sixth place. The same twelve animals are also used to symbolize the cycle of hours in the day, each being associated with a two-hour time period. The hour of the snake is 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., the time when the Sun warms up the Earth, and snakes are said to slither out of their holes. The month of the snake is the 4th month of the Chinese lunar calendar and it usually falls within the months of May through June depending on the Chinese to Gregorian calendar conversion. The reason the animal signs are referred to as zodiacal is that one's personality is said to be influenced by the animal signs ruling the time of birth, together with elemental aspects of the animal signs within the sexagenary cycle. Similarly, the year governed by a particular animal sign is supposed to be characterized by it, with the effects particularly strong for people who were born in any year governed by the same animal sign. With the appearance of a new moon, celebrations for Chinese New Year have kicked off around the world 🌑🎉 A Lunar New Year begins with the new moon based on lunar calendars or lunisolar calendars. While lunar calendar years have a fixed number (usually twelve) of lunar months, lunisolar calendars have a variable number of lunar months, resetting the count when needed to resynchronise with the solar year. As a British Born Chinese who understands Cantonese, wishing you Gung Hei Fat Choi (Happy New Year) and since we're on LinkedIn 生意興隆 Saang Yi Hing Lung (May your business flourish). For anybody who wishes to join in the well wishes - hope this helps :) Chinese New Year is generally celebrated by the Chinese and Lunar New Year is the more inclusive phrase for those in other countries who also celebrate this time of year. There's two common Chinese languages - Cantonese and Mandarin. Mandarin is used mainly in China and Cantonese mostly in HK/USA/UK. From a personal experience, I can't read or write Chinese but understand some basic spoken Cantonese (wording at the top) but if you're not using English in your comms, make sure you pick the language that you want to use for your audience.
