Early Thoughts on Ponder 2025: African Poets: Like the Mercator's projections that show Africa so little than its original size, we either overlook or miss out on the opportunity to savor great poetry from Africa. Last year, we had Adedoyin Olaleye as part of our tribute series. This year, I missed out on reviewing African poetry due to my lack of focus (my bad, pardon me). In Ponder 2025, we will include African poetry in the Ponder section. Tribute Series: To be in the Tribute Series, the poet should feature at least twice in the Ponder series. I have held to this criterion strongly. So we need more new poets in the Ponder Series. I hope to find more poets across the globe. Classic Poems: Introducing Classic Poems along with Contemporary poets is to establish a contiguous realm, and we will keep it to 3 per edition. This year, we have done two ( the Haikus) and one more. These are just a few thoughts as I try to conceive Ponder 2025. To understand how to build a poetic voice, you must understand how well you make use of language—your diction. The linguistic habit of your poetry is important in creating a poetic voice. This needs consistency and originality. How you use words to create original metaphors is of prime importance in building a poetic voice.    A poetic voice comes from within the poet. It enhances the poet's tone, feelings, mannerism, and style.     There are different elements that contribute to building a poetic voice.
