No, there isn't a special military-focused holiday in August. Regardless, I have thoughts to share about this phrase today. Election day is in three months. There is much more at stake than electing the next United States President. There are many others who at varying levels are also vying to receive votes to represent you in our government. And whether those who are running for office locally, state, or nationally are those you personally favor or not to represent you, they are the candidates. It is unreasonable to have everyone's personal objectives comprehensively represented in two national-level candidates; however, this is why we have a system of government that is based on elected representatives. In America, we believe in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. We equate this phrase to Freedom. Life is granted (or not) by the actions of others; however, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness rely on YOU with the decisions and actions you make. I hope you read through the carousel below for additional perspectives I offer to this idea, as a military veteran. COMMENT with what this phrase means for you. Dr. Chase Spears Pat Proctor, PhD. Noel Christian Pace I know your work relies heavily on public support toward policies, hence the tag. I wish you well in this election season for the processes you are trying to affect! Soldier for Life means we keep fighting for freedom, even as civilians. Thank you for your continued service!

Emma thanks for this big-picture, nonpartisan perspective. Politicians of all stripes seem to sell personal benefits to individuals to win their votes, whereas you remind us that voting can (and should) be based on gratitude and deep appreciation for the hard-won freedom that we already have. On that basis, we can then demonstrate our gratitude, appreciation, and respect for all those who paid the price on our behalf, by making the effort to thoughtfully exercise our right to vote. (Side note: here in Australia we have compulsory voting - no freedom to not vote- I have arguments with my US friends about that important nuance - but we can still show how we value our hard-won freedoms by being thoughtful with our votes)
