Great to be at the Battery Show with Keysight Technologies and ESI Group! Looking forward to day 3 tomorrow, and speaking with companies about simulating batteries, battery energy storage systems, electric vehicles and more! Come by booth 5211 and find out how modeling, simulation and test can improve the design and operation of battery systems. Alex Magdanz is there to speak about SimulationX, a systems modeling tool which uses a physics-based approach to simulate battery SOC, temperatures and degradation due to aging and cycling. This enables you to predict vehicle range, design and dimension cooling systems, and forecast BESS operations. Ramesh. Dwarampudi can give the details on VPS - an FEM software that can simulate the mechanical consequences of battery swelling, such as broken connections or ruptured welds, or even predict damage to the battery pack due to a vehicle crash. Was great to see some familiar faces today! #SimulationX, #XcelerateInnovation

I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Equivalent Circuit Cell Model Simulation (with Honors) from University of Colorado Boulder, University of Colorado System! The comprehensive certification course by Sir Gregory Plett covered various aspects of battery modeling and simulation. From understanding cell behavior to analyzing discharge profiles, I've gained expertise in handling real-world battery challenges. The course equipped me with proficiency to develop algorithms for an Enhanced Self-Correcting (ESC) cell model that considers the Ohmic resistance, hysteresis, and dynamic polarization voltage drops in a dynamic cell model using real-test data of a lithium-ion cell. This is imperative to determine the design limits and optimize the battery performance by analyzing the simulation output. One key skill I obtained through this course is to co-simulate the EV and battery pack by considering various drive cycles to estimate the State-of-Charge and range of the EV by analyzing the voltage, current, and power consumed by the vehicle at each time instant. This certification equips me with the skills to tackle complex battery-related tasks effectively, contributing to advancements in energy storage and electric vehicle technology. Excited to apply these learnings in real-world projects! #batterymanagementsystems #evbattery

The general shift towards electrification in the electric vehicle (EV) market and beyond has created a need for higher fidelity simulation of electric powertrains. One aspect of this trend that has been getting attention is the desire for a detailed analysis of an electric motor’s noise, vibration, and harshness (eNVH) characteristics early in the design stage. In this blog written by Gamma Technologies' own Anthony Tsoulfaidis, learn how to properly analyze eNVH utilizing simulation solutions such as GT-FEMAG for electromagnetic finite element analysis and GT-SUITE for electrical and mechanical transient simulations! Read blog: https://bit.ly/3UZL6Nj This blog references a webinar from Gamma Technologies' own Gregory Fialek and Joe Wimmer on "NVH Prediction in Electric Powertrains: Considering Inverter and Motor Spatial Harmonics" that was in collaboration and hosted by SAE International.
