Another initiative of new president Roger is revitalising our Club and increasing membership. It's no secret Rotary clubs around the world have struggled to retain members and attract new members. Terms of reference are: - To explore options that will revitalise membership of our Club. - To make recommendations to the RCW Board on the preferred pathway for the Club. - Report to Board by mid-September 2024. The first meeting of the group was yesterday (Tuesday). As part of kicking off the meeting, President Roger asked each member to say in five minutes what they think are the primary causes of declining membership, and what they think are the best opportunities to revitalise membership. A conversation about revitalising our Club also took place at the June 24 lunch meeting. Among the takeaways include: - Spreading good news stories about what our club is doing. - Inviting our club members to be speakers to learn about their expertise. - Instead of fellowship time - create ways to learn more about each other's experience & skills. - Involve other clubs in our project and our social events. It's a big project, but it's good to get the ball rolling. Stay tuned for more - and if you'd like to help, let us know! A great start too is joining our Club if you're not a member already! 😁

Talks about #eventplanning, #alumni, #contentcreation, #highered, #engagementmetrics, #volunteering and #philanthropy
Here’s one way to maximize the value of $$$ conference registration. Attendees consistently tell us the biggest benefit of going to a conference is sharing best practices and starting relationships with peers. But how many attendees actually find the time and energy to follow up with their new connections? As an event planner, it seems like facilitating that follow up would be wise, no? SO, at the CASE DII Board meeting we came up with a smart idea to facilitate engagement after our annual District Conference (Save the Date - 2/9-2/11, NYC) and move some relationships that started at the event to the next level. It’s super simple! We’re going to recruit volunteers to host gatherings in their cities for attendees and friends to bask in the afterglow, share what they learned, and continue building their networks. (Save the Date - 3/6, coming to a city near you) https://lnkd.in/eytpR_ph

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be on The Learning Network Board? 👀 Then join our webinar today at noon (BST)! Hear from fellow board member Directors Kim Ellis, Tom McDowall and Richard Price. They will each share their experiences of being Directors.
Board nominations are open now! Richard Price joined the board a year ago, and has recorded his thoughts on the experience so far. Later today, Katerina Vourlakos, Kim Ellis, Richard Price, and Tom McDowall will be answering your questions about becoming a board member. Check out the webinar: https://lnkd.in/et8MXrGh If you're considering running for the board, be sure to contact a sitting board member; they'll be happy to share their experience so you can make an informed choice. Sitting on the board is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the L&D community, but it is also a significant responsibility. We are temporary custodians of a network that has evolved and grown since the early 90's. Securing its future is at the core of what we do each year. If you have a burning question about the board, drop it in the comments below 👇 #LearningAndDevelopment #Community #Network

This is Business Critical - especially in the challenging times that are here already and lie ahead for the #charity #socialenterprise sector. We collectively champion start up and diversification and rarely champion maturity, stability and make space for safety around endings. #governance is complex and #mustdobetter
Week after week we’re receiving enquiries to the Decelerator hotline from organisations referred to us by funders. We’re also finding funders are seeking guidance and insight on this sensitive topic to guide their own practice and approach. The Decelerator’s intention is to grow the capacity in civil society for this work over the next 5 - 10 years - to reframe endings as a necessary and impactful part of organisational life cycles, to celebrate leadership where it shows up in endings, and to ensure the funding and policy is in place for better endings. Funders have a critical part to play in this. So The Decelerator and our three current funders - Paul Hamlyn Foundation , Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and Pears Foundation - are coming together to share what we’re learning from our pilot so far with other funding organisations. We’ll also be sharing what we believe (at this stage) needs to change in civil society for endings to be given the attention and have the impact needed now and in the years ahead. So we’re hosting a funder only event on the 24th June to explore this further. -Are you someone in a funding organisation wanting to support this work or trying to find ways into this topic? -Do you know someone you think should be there? If you do, get in touch and we can share the details

Helping nonprofit leaders to save the world by curating a Board of Directors that will drive impact, financial stability, and long-term sustainability
Effective board engagement is a two-way street. While your organization will benefit from dedicated volunteers, it's essential to invest in their development and well-being. Here are some strategies to consider implementing, which will demonstrate your appreciation and support for your volunteers dedication and commitment: 👉 Comprehensive Orientation and Training: Provide thorough orientation sessions to familiarize new board members with your organization's mission, structure, programs, and governance practices. Offer ongoing training opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge. 👉 Mentorship Programs: Pair new board members with seasoned veterans to provide guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth. 👉 Attendance at Industry Conferences: Facilitate attendance at relevant industry conferences, workshops, and seminars, where board members can learn best practices, network with peers, and gain fresh perspectives. 👉 Recognition and Appreciation: Regularly acknowledge and celebrate volunteer contributions through various channels, such as newsletters, social media, awards ceremonies, and personal thank-you notes. When nonprofit organizations prioritize the growth and satisfaction of their board members, engagement naturally follows and this leads to a more cohesive and effective governing body. How could your organization further enhance board engagement, while ensuring your members feel valued and supported in their roles?

Beyond the Seat guides clients through processes that align individual performance with corporate goals.
What's your criteria for joining professional associations and organizations? These are typically annual memberships where members attend weekly or monthly. The benefits of these memberships can be huge when selected carefully. When investigating potential professional associations, consider this: 1. The organization is a good use of your time 2. The educational component provides you valuable insight or knowledge that benefits your business operations 3. The membership is a group of like-minded individuals with similar goals 4. The members join to grow his/her self, their business practices, and are willing to support the growth of other members When you choose professional organizations with goals and activities that align with your needs, you are also more inclined to consistently attend the meetings. It's a win/win. I am consistently excited with programming at one of my favorite associations--the National Speakers Association (NSA) - Houston Chapter. Our recent speaker, Dr. Kevin Daley, shared important strategies for anyone who places a value on mastering his/her personal brand. What's your strategy for determining which associations will work for you?
