"I learned having a stroke does not define me!" -Stroke survivor Mike
No deficit should stop you from getting out to enjoy a summer bike ride, and thanks to generosity of The Bellin Health Foundation and The Bike Hub, stroke survivors are able to borrow recumbent bikes and enjoy a beautiful summer's day on local bike trails.
As one participant stated, "I met so many stroke survivors [at this event]! My support group is so amazing!"
Amplifying recovery while amplifying passions. That's what we're all about. 💙

If you are 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗢𝗧 in pain, battling illness/disease, DO YOU KNOW HOW TO STAY THERE?
I talk about the 'primary' intent of Health is 𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲.
That is so contrary to popular belief, because our entire healthcare system is literally built on managing sickness/pain/disease.

🧠 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝘇𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵—a time to honor the resilience of those living with dementia and the relentless pursuit of answers by researchers worldwide.
IU School of Medicine has more than 100 faculty experts dedicated to advancing dementia research. In 2023 alone, they collectively secured $87 million in The National Institutes of Health funding for Alzheimer’s research, ranking 6th in the nation for National Institute on Aging (NIA) grants.
The mission is clear: 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝘇𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿’𝘀.
Let’s take this month to not only recognize their groundbreaking efforts but also to ignite conversations about the importance of research, advocacy, and support for those impacted.

#AdekunleGold's interview on #CNNAfricanVoices is a powerful one! Opening up about his struggles with sickle cell is incredibly inspiring, especially for those who've hidden their battles for fear of judgment.
His story resonates with so many warriors who've faced crises due to societal expectations & not following the necessary routines. It's a reminder that self-care - exercise, healthy eating, hydration - is crucial for managing sickle cell.
But the fight doesn't end there. We need more inclusive healthcare policies that prioritize the #SickleCellCommunity. Access to treatment & resources shouldn't be a privilege. ✊
Let Adekunle's courage inspire you to embrace your truth & fight for what you deserve. Let's advocate for better policies & celebrate diversity in healthcare. #SickleCellAwareness#HealthForAll#InclusionMatters
