I'm thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership between Hackensack Meridian Health Meridian Health and Bernhard to bring clean, #renewableenergy to our 18 hospitals across New Jersey. This transformative initiative will install over 50,000 solar panels, the equivalent of 27 NFL football fields. This partnership is a significant step forward in our commitment to environmental #sustainability and reducing our #carbonfootprint. By harnessing the sun's power, we'll be able to significantly reduce our reliance on #fossilfuels, contributing to a healthier planet for generations to come. But the benefits extend far beyond environmental impact. This initiative will also: 1. Reduce our operating costs: The solar panels will generate significant cost savings, allowing us to reinvest those funds back into patient care and innovative technologies. 2. I just had a wonderful conversation with Chisara Ehiemere and Divya Chandra, MIB,CA of NYU Stern. They have created a decarbonization framework specifically for healthcare. What I love about it is that it gives clear action steps and resources - and they even included the need to stop using pesticides on health facility lawns! Anything that is pro-pollinator is a big win in my book, so this was great to see.
