Whether you are an adult child talking to a Senior Citizen about change, or if you are in the Senior Housing industry-this is for you! We think as a helper if we overcome someone's barriers to change, they will change. The truth is...they might! But they might not, because their MOTIVATION isn't strong to change. Which is why we have to remember what helps the most in exploring change, is helping THEM to hear themselves talk about change. What does this look like? Creating a space where they can EXPLORE change with you. Which requires curiosity, non judgement and a lot of listening! #seniorliving #seniorhousing #assistedliving #independentliving #change #changemanagement #agingadults #navigatingchange #aging #seniorcitizen #navigatingchange #retirementcommunities #caringforseniorcitizens #agingparents #agingparentssupport

Speaking of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, I believe safety and security should be considered a human right, not just a need. Below, Tom talks about the foundational level of Maslow's Hierarchy.
To truly discuss healthy + thriving communities, we must address the #HousingCrisis — focusing on the ability to attain housing and supporting those without a safe, suitable place to live. It’s a conversation that transcends statistics, touching the essence of humanity. In this excerpt, we tackle the #Stigma associated with the word #Homelessness, unravel the misunderstandings, and explore actions for moving forward. Michael and I have a conversation about the challenges near and far, the work Community LINC is doing, and how we can all make a difference. Good things are happening, community is a team effort. #AffordableHousing #AttainableHousing #EndHomelessness #CommunityHealth #HousingFirst #SocialDeterminants #SDoH #PublicHealth

Whether your an adult child talking to a parent about change or a Senior living professional, we have to take smaller steps when discussing change with Senior Citizens. You get so much farther-faster! When we slooooowww the process down. When we slow down to be curious about what is in their brain, it helps them truly think about change more. What it might look like, what the benefits are, the challenges, ect. But how often do we skip ahead and just ask, "Ready to move?" and then notice immediate....resistance....oops! Sloooow the process down! #seniorliving #seniorhousing #assistedliving #independentliving #change #changemanagement #agingadults #navigatingchange #aging #seniorcitizen #navigatingchange #retirementcommunities #caringforseniorcitizens #agingparents #agingparentssupport #smallsteps

Building Better Relationships Without Cohabitation Now that we’ve debunked the myth of cohabitation, let’s talk about how you can build strong, healthy relationships without jumping into living together: 🔸Take Your Time: Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither should your relationship be rushed. Take the time to get to know each other, build trust, and establish a solid foundation before making any big moves like moving in together. Slow and steady wins the race, remember? 🔸Set Boundaries: Boundaries are your best friends when it comes to relationships. Be clear about your expectations, values, and deal-breakers right from the start. Communicate openly and honestly with your partner about what you need to feel safe, respected, and valued in the relationship. 🔸Focus on Personal Growth: Instead of relying on your relationship to fulfill all your needs and dreams, focus on your own personal growth and development. Pursue your passions, hobbies, and career goals with determination, and encourage your partner to do the same. A healthy relationship is made up of two individuals who support each other’s growth and celebrate each other’s successes. Conclusion: Why Cohabitation Isn’t the Answer In a world where cohabitation is often glamorized as the ultimate relationship goal, it’s important to take a step back and question whether it’s really the right path for you. By prioritizing communication, commitment, and personal growth, you can build strong, lasting relationships that stand the test of time, no cohabitation required. And last but certainly not least, if kids are in the picture, think long and hard before cohabiting. Children living in cohabiting households are more likely to experience abuse and instability, which is the last thing anyone wants. So, there you have it, the secret to intimacy lies not in rushing ahead but in taking the time to build a solid foundation. Whether you're scaling the heights of commitment or tiptoeing into uncharted territory, remember to stay true to yourselves and each other. After all, the greatest adventures are the ones we take together. Yepi!, We've come to the end of this discuss, so it's now time for you to share your thoughts or ask questions. Make use of the comment section, let's rob minds together. #pgfcares #happynewweek #don'ttestrunlove

#trueunderstanding instead of just lip service. Love the stats in this article. #trust is fundamental to any long lossting changes. #Trust + #kindess in a world increasingly difficult to navigate with more complexity and adversity is so crucial to a more functional and safer society. The flow on effect is most likely far reaching onto our future generation. #Pleasebekind #problemsolving #togetherwerebetter #changeforbetter #practicalsolutions #outcomevident #heartwarming #resourcedistribution 🙌🏼💗

I recently posted an article about a young woman sitting on a residential street in total despair. The post went viral with 9000+ impressions and 40+ comments. Here are the three ideas we can all do I got from your responses. Several people of knowledge either from within the system or people who have similar experience to this young woman shared the possibilities for the road out of despair. I've learned so much from your comments and I am now personally better equipped to help the next person I find in a similar situation. I am truly grateful, thank you. Most of the comments were about where the responsibility for help really is. It at least starts with us, not the government. In fact there were several comments on how the government is inadequate to solve these kind of problems. This is not a criticism of government, it is an acknowledgement that a personal helping hand, a personal hand that cares, has more impact than hard to access institutional professionals. (they are important though) The third thing I learned is how much most people actually care and personally want to do something. Thank you. It is inspiring to me to have seen your engagement with my story of the young woman in despair. We at Happy Community Project work hard to shift our culture to one where we personally take responsibility for each others wellbeing, not just our own. This is a big ambitious task.
