Sorry to see so many talented journalists being let go by various media companies. I've said it before and I'll repeat it til I die: Journalists are amazing people doing underappreciated (and misunderstood) work that we won't truly miss until it's gone. If you're hiring in PR and you see recently laid off journalists open to filling these roles, pounce on them. The writing will be spectacular. The work will be done quickly because deadlines are daily for reporters. You'll have someone who instantly and intimately understands what the press wants when it comes to earned media. Hire journalists for PR jobs! #journalism #publicrelations

I **love** using TikTok and I do well on Meta platforms. I should switch to #journalism and apply. Look how many people are getting their news from TikTok these days. Crazy, right? Actually, I'm a happy #PR consultant and plan to stick with this profession. I highly recommend TikTok. I rank TikTok a 10 out of 10 on the quality of what flows through my feed and how easy and fun it is to get decent engagement. I was kicked off of Twitter/X a couple of years ago and lost 300,000 impressions a month as a result. My first TikTok video garnered around 1,000 views. I have only a few followers at around 100 but the views are decent! I know there are issues about all social media privacy, etc, so be careful! I need something to blog about next. I might talk about #X versus TikTok. X is so depressing these days: A bit too much misinformation and name-calling, and so on. X just makes me sad.
🚨 COOL JOURNALISM JOB ALERT 🚨 We are looking for someone to join our team to help cover TikTok, Meta and the world of social media! It's really one of the most important and impactful beats out there. Please spread this far and wide! https://lnkd.in/g5UabWC7

Important shoes need filling …
The War Horse News is searching for our next managing editor. After nearly four years, Kelly Kennedy will be transitioning to being a full-time author. I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished together, have learned so much from her, and look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next. During our time together, Kelly oversaw reporting that won two Murrow Awards and the RFK Human Rights Journalism Award, doubled our audience size, and helped us welcome our first two full-time reporters. My favorite memory is watching her interview the Secretary of VA at our inaugural War Horse Symposium last year. Thank you for everything, Kelly. Our next ME has big shoes to fill — this is an incredible opportunity to lead an ambitious newsroom team with a track record of impact and year-over-year growth within a declining industry. The remote position will pay $127,800 and includes a range of benefits. Learn more at the link below.

Which companies are actively hiring for journalists for roles paying $150K+? Journalists taking exec roles on marketing teams isn't new, but if LinkedIn would make the data available, I’d put a lot of money on the fact that there are way more jobs targeting journalists today then 5 years ago. I’ve been doing some perusing on which orgs are leaning into opening roles for people with journalism backgrounds - a few great finds - each of the below have listed salaries north of $150K: @Andreesen Horowitz/A16Z - Editorial Operations, Early Stage Venture Fund - https://lnkd.in/eFTBU95e storyarb - VP Content & Managing Editor - https://lnkd.in/eHpaSFFA BNY, SVP Corporate Comms, Content Lead - https://lnkd.in/ejrpEZ3M Moody's - VP, Editorial - https://lnkd.in/ekF6u2_t DoubleVerify - Head of News/Content Partnerships - https://lnkd.in/ediuWqKc And one more, albeit for less than $150K FULLBEAUTY Brands - Senior Content Editor - https://lnkd.in/evvrrVTb Call it what you want to call it, but brands are hiring talented reporters + editors in droves, and finding sustainable ways to produce content that audiences rely on to do their jobs/live their lives. Who else has open roles that would be great for journalists thinking about the next chapter?
