Valuable and succinct information in the Mount Street Club Trust report⬇️ for corporates intending to or already working with chairities.
Can trust-based philanthropy deepen the reciprocal impact of corporate funding partnerships? Where do the tensions and opportunities lie in relationships between funders and recipients? These were two of the questions posed at the Corporate Funding Partnerships Roundtable that we hosted earlier this year. We're now delighted to share a summary of the insights, ideas and outcomes from that event. If you're involved in or considering a funding partnership between a business and a charity, we hope that you'll find plenty of interest in this report. The insights are well worth reading in detail and fall under three key themes: • Conventional funding structures can hamper long-term impact • Tensions can arise due to differing perspectives, expectations and motivations • There are rich opportunities for corporate funders open to collaboration Finally, very warm thanks to everyone who participated, including the CEOs of our Hope & Ambition recipients, Peter Sheekey of ILS-Dublin Intercultural Language Service-Dublin, Maoliosa Boyle of Rua Red, Naoimh McNamee of Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation and Nick Henderson of Irish Refugee Council, as well as Síofra Kelly, Anthony Mills, Claire Colfer, Sarah O'Connor, Peter Corcoran and Hannah Carney. We're looking forward to further conversations and engagement on funding dynamics and opportunities between charities and funders in the coming year! #trustbasedphilanthropy #irishphilanthropy #philanthropy #funding #CSR #ESG #corporatephilanthropy #corporategiving

I help social impact leaders streamline equity and innovation in their partnerships and become leaders in the #ShiftThePower movement 🎯 Leadership Trainer, Coach, and Consultant
A hashtag is a brand that nobody can own. And so #ShiftThePower has taken on a life of its own. But where did it come from? It began in 2016 in the run up to the first Global Summit on Community Philanthropy in Johannesburg. #ShiftThePower was intended to provoke. Frustrations about the status quo in development aid were rampant. But it was not without consequences that smaller, local, or community groups could call out big donors and INGOs for their excessive power. The global summit and the online conversations it inspired became spaces where ‘the P-word’ could finally be named loudly and action demanded. Ever since, it has become a lightning rod and a rallying cry converging with Global South CSO demands to decolonize and transform the systems and structures of Global North donors and INGOs. Of course, there has been plenty of movement-building before and since the first summit. I want to let you know about this open letter published in March 2020 that still resonates. These local civil society and grassroots groups ask that those donors and INGOs serious about shifting power support them. Not compete with them. And certainly not replace them. What do you think happens to civil society when an INGO "localizes"? #CommunityLed #GlobalDev #NonProfits #Donors #Philanthropy

👏🏻 Recently, I celebrated the European Commission's adoption of a proposal aimed at facilitating cross-border activities for non-profit associations within the EU. This initiative seeks to eliminate legal and administrative barriers for non-profit associations operating in or intending to operate in multiple Member States. 👏🏻 Taking another significant step, Philea - Philanthropy Europe Association has launched a call urging European policymakers to collaborate on establishing a Single Market for Philanthropy, known as The European Philanthropy Manifesto. 📣 ☑️ Philanthropy plays a crucial role in supporting civil society and the social economy, complementing government and private sector endeavors. ☑️ However, philanthropic actors face growing challenges due to regulatory obstacles and a complex political climate, particularly in cross-border operations. Overregulation and a mix of old and new barriers hinder their activities. ☑️ It is imperative for philanthropic actors to have the freedom for cross-border recognition, legal transfers, mergers, fund flow, non-discriminatory tax treatment, and an enabling operating space. ☑️ The introduction of a legal form for non-profit associations designed for cross-border purposes can streamline operations, enhance accountability, and facilitate cooperation, ultimately contributing to more effective efforts in addressing complex global challenges. Looking forward to experiencing additional advancements in 2024! 😉 👉🏻 Read the article by following this link: https://buff.ly/48thn2K __ #Philanthropy #Fundraising #Nonprofit #PositiveChange #Systemschange #Europe __ 🔔 I regularly share content about fundraising. Needs are mounting around the world, and low-income countries are crunched for the resources to tackle them. As The Economist highlights in its special report, philanthropy of all kinds is playing a critical role in filling the gap for the world's most vulnerable people. Now more than ever, we need a thriving philanthropic sector and sustained collaboration between governments, NGOs, businesses, and philanthropies on tough problems. https://econ.st/3U7Ou8B
