Excited to finally share the announcement of Play by Play Studios and our first game The Run: Got Next! For me as a marketer, it's been a great adventure, getting back into the day to day of thinking about every channel from end to end - from positioning and messaging to putting together the Steam page, creative meeting, booking interviews, researching creators, even busting out some of my old Photoshop skills. (This has also made me appreciate even more the scores of talented folks who have helped contribute to awesome career moments). For me personally, the combination of working on The Run along with EACFB coming back (and being a major distraction at a busy time), has filled me with a ton of nostalgia for memories when gaming wasn't just work. (And as a bonus, the Celtics won the title -- it's feeling like my summer). I also know I am fortunate to have had such a long career in games and hope that even with everything going on in our industry, that we're on the way back 📈 Check out our Steam page for The Run -- you can find our trailer there, some more info about the game, maybe even a wishlist button -- I don't know, I heard they have those now but you should press it to make sure it works. https://lnkd.in/dhTsuimP (And yes, I know I owe LinkedIn a bit more of an update of what I've been up to -- I'm terrible at this -- but today's all about PBP & The Run.)

A few quick thoughts: + Assassin’s Creed Shadows delayed by 3 months to February 2025. + Fiscal 2025 net bookings slashed to $2.16 billion, down from $2.66 billion. + Star Wars Outlaws underperformed, sending Ubisoft shares to a 10-year low. + Company shifts strategy, scrapping the traditional Season Pass model. + Layoffs likely, as Ubisoft reviews its execution and cost-cutting measures. + BONUS: Will Assassin’s Creed Shadows be the game that turns it around? Full write-up here: https://lnkd.in/eCTCxRxp Q: Can Ubisoft regain its footing in an increasingly competitive market?

JOB ROLES Alert! Hi everyone, here's another studio I can personally vouch for – Fuse Games. If you look at the team, you'll see their credentials, the kind of games they have worked on, and how good they are. Fuse has a great culture. Speak to the team, and you will know what I mean. We all know that, sadly, although every studio says it has a great culture, not all do. Great cultures don't just exist within a studio; they reach out beyond it to the people who work with them, too—you can feel when they do. Again, Fuse does. Job roles are here! https://lnkd.in/eiV56Emd I almost want to apply for the UI Engineer one myself ;)

Exactly one year ago today I was hired at Flashbulb Games. I was thrown into the development of the 1.6 Airborne update and saw first hand what it was like to work at a game studio a few months before a big release. It was hectic but "we" managed and it broke all sales- and CCU records. I say "we" because the update was practically done when I started working here. I was however much more involved in the development of the 1.7 Spacebound update where I wrote most of the in-game dialogue and was involved in shaping the biggest map ever released in Trailmakers (in a creative sense - the actual shaping was done by our talented level designers 😅 ) I have livestreamed on our Twitch channel for hundreds of hours in front of thousands of viewers, played with content creators in videos reaching more than a million views total on YouTube, and made friends with our passionate Discord community of almost 40,000 members. It has always been a dream of mine to work in game development but it is a rough industry to get a job in if you are not a programmer. So I would be lying if I said I didn't have imposter syndrome the first few weeks being one of the only employees not able to write code. That feeling vanished quickly thanks to a stunningly encouraging and inclusive work environment. It was a incredible to discover that there IS room for an entertainer/crazy ideas/marketing guy in this industry and I am so thankful to go to work here every day. Attached is the key art from our latest big update: 1.7 Spacebound. But the next update is not so far away. 👀

Product Manager | NUS MBA | Gaming PM Consultant | Launched Canada's newest media streaming platform
Last post about Riot Games I swear... We know 2XKO's winning aspiration, the arena it will play in and the users it wants to target. The final step of our framework is outlining what needs to be in place to execute on product strategy. For simplicity sake, I bucketed it into Hiring, Design, and Publishing and laid out top priorities for each. 📄 Read the FULL report here: https://lnkd.in/gJ7YxA_2 To wrap up - 2XKO is a great case study for gaming PM's given how genuinely new it is for Riot. New genre (fighting), new platform (console), new segments (FGC), and new'ish markets (e.g Dominican Republic, Pakistan). Big thanks again to Maximilian Wischow for sharing his product expertise and introducing the Playing to Win framework to me! 🙏

About 12,000 games were released on steam last year. How many of them were AAA? About 200… There are more smaller studios releasing games, than there are AAA games being released! Aspiring game developers. Stop targeting these big studios for your first job. Don’t even target the mid-size studios for your first job. Mid-size being around 30+ employees. Target the hundreds of other smaller studios releasing games on steam and other platforms. This is the start of your career. You don’t get to have your pick of the jobs yet. You only get that privilege as you gain experience. Focus on gaining experience. Not getting the fancy job….for now. Steam insights here: https://lnkd.in/gJYH_-aW https://lnkd.in/gv6FUNi2

🎮 Supporting your research & playtest participant recruitment needs | 3,000 players recruited every year | 100+ client projects annually | Great Gamers Guaranteed 🎮
We're looking forward to visiting #gamescom2024 for the first time this year... Hopefully with more success than my last visit to Köln (on Tartan Army duty last month!). #noscotlandnoparty 🏴 🎉 🍺 🙄 We aim to become the #1 go-to participant recruiter for those conducting game user research or playtesting - be it video game developers & publishers, or market research agencies working in the video game sector... Our specialist video game knowledge and experience are gaining traction: already this year, we have conducted over 60+ recruitment projects with 80%+ involving recruiting video gamers (1,255 gamers to be exact!). But I would love to hear from anyone who has attended #gamescom before... - how long should I plan to attend? - what is the best way to meet researchers attending? - are there any extra-curricular events that are worth attending and will help meet those working in the industry in research-based roles? #gamescom2024 #videogames #gamingindustry #videogamedevelopment #gamedev #gamedevelopment
